Outback = inside? Outback = outside? It could be fun to have one in all 3 colors.want to do a 3rd i have one sitting outback with the classic timing chain issue and no time
SucksYeah but 1/4 as much with the good stripper. My first experience with the new ones was terrible. At least 4x the work and applications to get stuff off.
This is like a dad pun.want to do a 3rd i have one sitting outback with the classic timing chain issue and no time
I don't strip them... I take em to the powder coater and they give it back all shiny and black. But a wire wheel on an angle grinder makes quick work on all but the tightest of areas.... you are working too hard.Even though it’s the good stuff, that doesn’t help me hate doing this any less. It’s still a bunch of nasty work.View attachment 222737

We lost our local good powder coater... the one we have left is too busy with huge commercial work loads to fool much with odds and ends like bike parts. And they are slow and expensive. There's a new shop opening soon in Heyworth that should be able to knock out the bike stuff again. Otherwise I do my own stuff that'll fit in the kitchen oven.No powder coating around me. We had one years ago, crazy $$$. then he closed shop.
For this project, powder may not be a bad idea.
I will send you a text later today.
I agree with this. I had to touch up some powder on wheels after changing tires and it was hard to match the black. With 2K I could have easily sanded and hit them with a new coat and not have to worry. Powder is nice when you can get it done reasonable but the 2K stuff is as good if applied right. That 2k chassis black is just as durable as powder with the right prep underneath. Plus, it's easier to touch up 3 years from now.
If that s true then powder is the way. I am lucky to have one not far from me that if you want black and can wait a few weeks he'll though it in a batch being done and is really reasonable. but only gloss black.3dognate actually turned me into a powder coater not far from me. I’m gonna go see him Saturday morning.
For close to the cost of the 2k primer and paint (estimate 3 cans of each)...I may be able to have it blasted and powdered along w the other small parts.
Or just epoxy the thing.
