yeah, that was the original plan, but at this point in time the guy I am building it for is happy with it the way it is, so i am just going to leave it alone
It actually rides quite well, and sou8nds pretty cool too. The exhaust is pretty much open all the way back, although it is not too loud:)
Suzuki emblem on the side is vinyl lettering under the clearcoat
possibly a bit more travel, but not by much, if at all. It is also substantially stiffer than stock, so the suspension, when ridden does not compress nearly as much as it used to
no, I understand the concept. As the swingarm moves through its range of motion, the tension on the chain changes. Statically sitting, one should see about an inch to 1 and 1/4 inch of free play in the chain when measured between the two sprockets on the bottom run of the chain. As the...
This has been taken into consideration already. Yes, the extra angle of the swingarm does cause additional tightness on the top, and some slack on the bottom, but under compression(while riding the bike) all is good

Again, been a long while since I have posted, but I am still working on this bike. She is now running and rideable. Got a few pinhole leaks in the gas tank that I am in the middle of reparing. Also, the fork seals are blown from sitting...
Re: 78 Wes Cooley GS1000s cafe(new pics 05/09/2013)
Thats about the size of it. I am on a very limited budget, and mandrel bent tubing is a bit more expensive than standard off the shelf automotive exhaust pipe. So try it with the checp stuff, make sure it looks and works the way I want it...
Re: 78 Wes Cooley GS1000s cafe(new pics 05/09/2013)
yes, you are correct, I could have done it that way, but I didn't. The exhaust bends were cheap and used for proof of concept more than anything else. Once I get this thing on the road and ride it a bit, I will be switching to proper mandel...
Re: 78 Wes Cooley GS1000s cafe(new pics 05/09/2013)
yes, I would have too, but don't have the facilities to make 180 degree bends in round tubing, and was impatient. I will see how it functions this way. Easy enough to chop the other stuff off and redo it if I want to. Thanks for the feedback
Re: 78 Wes Cooley GS1000s cafe(new pics 07/31/2012!)
thanks, pics are kinda out of order. I need to get some good outdoor ones as soon as it stops raining. I am not trying to make it look too nice at this point. Gotta get it on the road for testing, and then take it all apart for paint:)
