Float height on 360 using the clear tube method?

Thanks for the reply, Yes, using the method of tilting the carbs until the tang just touches the needle i was ending up with the fuel level sitting about 3mm above the gasket. I figured that was way too much fuel to have in the carbs so was thinking having the fuel level sitting level with the...

Float height on 360 using the clear tube method?

Hi, sorry for yet another Carburetor question, I have a Honda CJ360T and i was looking at setting the floats using the clear tube method as i am having a few issues trying to do it by sitting the carb at an angle and setting it that way. So with the clear tube method, where should i be looking...

Help with Honda CJ360T Carburetor settings

Yes it starts cold with no choke, takes a few kicks though to get to that stage. I read somewhere that it should fire up without choke, sounds a tad odd, but that is what i have been doing. The insulators are all brand new, ( the two rubber boots from the engine to the carburetors ) I did use...

Set floats to 20mm, air fuel mixtures 2 turns out, bench synced both carbs to around .35mm Started up ok after a few kicks from cold and...

Help with Honda CJ360T Carburetor settings

Thanks heaps for those two links, a lot of great detailed information in there. Looks like i have a few things to check, first is those wish bone springs, I didn't even realize or notice that they have a slight curve to them, so i have a 50 / 50 chance that i either got them installed...

Help with Honda CJ360T Carburetor settings

Thanks again for the replies and video. Yes i am using the stock air filters and box, nothing has been modified. I have a brand new old stock needle and sets coming as i think on my original one the springs are a tad weak as they aren't as springy as the one in the video. I did have a full set...

Help with Honda CJ360T Carburetor settings

Not a bad idea there, i have a few cans of carb cleaner on the shelf, will give that a try. Now just have to find what the correct fuel level height with the clear tube is and i should be half way there.

Help with Honda CJ360T Carburetor settings

I am thinking about getting some sort of sealant to put on those rubber boots that go to the carburetor, sealant on both the motor side and carburetor side, just to make 100% sure they are sealed, they are new boots and i am using hose clamps on them rather than the clamps that it originally...

Help with Honda CJ360T Carburetor settings

Hi, Sorry for bringing up an old post that i started a few months ago. Bike has been in storage for a while as i haven't had the chance to get back to working on it. I was interested to know if there is a better way to check float height, I have been playing around with a carburetor gauge to...

Excess smoke coming from breather hose

Thanks for the reply. No miles on it yet since the rebuild, maybe 1 mile at the most to adjust some carburetor settings that is about all. Yes everything was lapped in correctly, good cross hatch in the bores with new standard size rings as the others weren't worn much at all.

Excess smoke coming from breather hose

Hi, I am in the process of doing a full motor rebuild on a 1976 CJ360T, actually the rebuild is complete just a few niggly things that i am trying to sort through. When the motor is up to operating temperature, i am getting a lot of oil smoke i guess is the best way to explain it coming from...

Help with Honda CJ360T Carburetor settings

Yes, i replaced them with brand new ones. The bike was running ok about a week ago apart from some hot starting/ running issues. I disassembled the carburetors and re adjusted the floats to 20mm thinking i was getting too much fuel and while i was there i took out the air/ fuel needles and put...

Help with Honda CJ360T Carburetor settings

I got the bike up and running, fired up on the first kick. Only issue that i have is that the motors revs stay high for a while before they drop. So, if i rev it to around 3k, it will stay there for a while before it drops back down. Carburetor linkage is not sticking, i can see that it is...
