Hmmm, heard that an "Ignitech CDI" replacing the Stock CDI does not depend any longer on the Ignition impulse coming from the stator.
This means that it works with just the standard 12V (any range between 8V-18V) and gives a sh*t about the messed up stator.

this is very valuable information and describes 1:1 what I experienced (overheating and thereafter issues with 4000+ rpms). I will work on diagnosis upcoming weekend and see if I need to replace the stator.
Gosh! I hoped that the bike wont suck more money but a new stator... ouch...
I'll check carbs and seal the exhaust again. Fuel delivery is fine (can see the gas running through my transparent fuel filter).
But can carbs get out of sync on their own?
i have the feeling that powerloss gets bigger, the hotter the bike gets. Getting off the line seems to be okay but reving 4000 or more feels really weak.
