    XV920 EFI Turbo.... Done (mostly)

Well, following a life-long philosophy of "anything worth doing, is worth doint to excess", I built another motor for the turbo bike:

    V Star 650

Really nice metal work. It's going to be stunning!

    Cafe XV920R Mega-Build

Really, really cool bike! I agree that the power is pretty adequate with the weight pared down. I am currently building an engine with Vstar 1100 crank, rods, pistons (stock CR) and cylinders. I started collecting the parts even before the bike was on the road. I figured I would keep the...

    XV920 EFI Turbo.... Done (mostly)

Well, I've seen a few threads revived from the dead lately... so I guess I'll join the crowd. I finally got my turbo EFI XV920 to a rideable state. EFI tuning and the seat cover are still in progress:

    The Turbodog Sidecar Rig

Thanks. It really would be better if it was about another inch farther forward. Unfortunately, this would put the caliper mounts right in the middle of the fork leg. For the amount of work it would take to relocate the calipers, I think I will just build a leading-link front end. I want to...

    The Turbodog Sidecar Rig

Doh! The rat bastards printed the instruction sheet backwards! Back to Ikea it goes! Thanks, folks. There are plenty of thing about it that could have been done better. Fortunately, most don't show up if you keep the pics small enough :) At the time, I couldn't be sure either the dog or wife...

    The Turbodog Sidecar Rig

The last major modification was to reduce steering effort so my wife could drive it more easily. I reduced trail by 2 inches, using a 'leading leg adapter': Result? The wife likes it! The dog likes it!

    The Turbodog Sidecar Rig

One challenge in Hacking a Virago is the lack of a lower frame. I built a subframe to distribute the sidecar loads to the engine and upper frame. It is not really visible in the photo, but there is a pretty stout tube running below and along side the engine - right where the front header...

    The Turbodog Sidecar Rig

Hmm, thought I had a thread on here already, but not finding it, so starting at the beginning: I had 3 steetable bikes in the shed (restomod chain-drive, spare parts shaft-drive bike, and a BMW R1100S I've been riding daily) - and enough spare parts to build a 3rd XV. As I'm pondering selling...

Yamaha TR1 - weird starter issues

I have encountered another source of the problem seen in your video. I have had the starter clutch: guts spin inside the sheet metal enclosure. I had to replace the clutch.

Project: Reverse Polarity Twin Turbo (NH750tt)

I added an update to my (very) old thread: http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=39633.msg922200#msg922200 The turbo is from a Yamaha Seca Turbo 650. I ciphered that a 650 turning 9000 RPMs would have sorta maybe the same flow requirements as a 920 turning 7000 RPM, given the lower...

    XV920 EFI Turbo.... Done (mostly)

Long time since last report. Had the turbo bike on the road for a very short time a few years ago. First trip was to get it inspected. Stranded me on the way home. Next trip was to the auto parts store. Stranded me on the way home. Both times it ran great to the destination, sat for 10 -...
