Ya it might be an easy fix but at this point I've lost all confidence in Fox. If they're that far off on spring rate how will they be in the dampening circuits? Wouldn't they also require pressure charge valves to be installed?

That's very generious and an thoughtful offer Sav0r but I have no interest in working, adapting and experimenting with these shocks on behalf of Fox. If they have no interest in ensuring their products are right for the market they can have them back. Once I get my money back I will consider...
So I sent the photo (above) of the shock compressed on the scale to Fox and asked them to comment. More specifically on the contribution to spring rate of a gas charged shock. This is the responce I received. Doesn't leave a lot of options.

That question has remained in my head for a while now. I can't tell you at what pressure the canister is charged but I can tell you the general effect it has. As suggested, Fox Podium RC1 shocks are gas charged and the internal gas pressure contributes to spring rate. Curious of the contribution...
Heard back from Fox and they've indeed located an 8" spring option.
Unfortunately it's stiffer than the current spring (albeit, shorter) and red.

I'd like to shout out to Chris (Sav0r) and CL MotoTech for all the help sorting my spring issues. Chris located Eibach 8" springs in 72.8lbs/in (1.3 kg) as well as a 89.6lbs/in (1.6 kg) with the correct ID from RaceTech.
I've still to hear back from FOX but suspect that they will also confirm...
I pulled one of the Fox springs and confirmed 21.5mm of preload due to the excessively long springs. That combined with 7mm of sag would net out to approx 28mm with correct length springs. That's about the right amount.
