DO THE TON / DIME CITY CYCLES BIKE OF THE MONTH - NOVEMBER 2016 VOTING

Great bikes but I gotta think the range to empty is pretty short on 1 of 3. Stay close to home.

FOX Podium RC1 shocks - Help

Hey Matt, Sorry to hear that you're having the same issues I had. Send them back and get the Ohlins or Works Performance shocks. You'll never get those shocks setup correctly. Fox does not (currently) make springs with the correct spring rate to achieve the recommended sag settings and...

FOX Podium RC1 shocks - Help

Maybe I wasn't clear when I posted the photo attempting to measure shaft pressure on the scale. I didnt mean to suggest that the nitrogen gas pressure added to the combined spring rate in the way a coil spring does. You said it correctly. The nitrogen charge adds support. Once that initial...

FOX Podium RC1 shocks - Help

Good and interesting info. Work Performance has a few top drawer shocks with dual rate springs.

FOX Podium RC1 shocks - Help

Ya it might be an easy fix but at this point I've lost all confidence in Fox. If they're that far off on spring rate how will they be in the dampening circuits? Wouldn't they also require pressure charge valves to be installed? Thanks again Jimmy

FOX Podium RC1 shocks - Help

That's very generious and an thoughtful offer Sav0r but I have no interest in working, adapting and experimenting with these shocks on behalf of Fox. If they have no interest in ensuring their products are right for the market they can have them back. Once I get my money back I will consider...

FOX Podium RC1 shocks - Help

So I sent the photo (above) of the shock compressed on the scale to Fox and asked them to comment. More specifically on the contribution to spring rate of a gas charged shock. This is the responce I received. Doesn't leave a lot of options. Email: [size=8pt]Jim Hope your week was good. I...

FOX Podium RC1 shocks - Help

That question has remained in my head for a while now. I can't tell you at what pressure the canister is charged but I can tell you the general effect it has. As suggested, Fox Podium RC1 shocks are gas charged and the internal gas pressure contributes to spring rate. Curious of the contribution...

Good eye. That shot was taken just after fitting. The shock needed to come off a few times to get the cutout located. All good now. Thanks

FOX Podium RC1 shocks - Help

Heard back from Fox and they've indeed located an 8" spring option. Unfortunately it's stiffer than the current spring (albeit, shorter) and red. Suggestion? Recommendation? [size=8pt]Jim I spoke to our engineers and also researched what FOX has available and what could be ordered. What we...

FOX Podium RC1 shocks - Help

I'd like to shout out to Chris (Sav0r) and CL MotoTech for all the help sorting my spring issues. Chris located Eibach 8" springs in 72.8lbs/in (1.3 kg) as well as a 89.6lbs/in (1.6 kg) with the correct ID from RaceTech. I've still to hear back from FOX but suspect that they will also confirm...

FOX Podium RC1 shocks - Help

I pulled one of the Fox springs and confirmed 21.5mm of preload due to the excessively long springs. That combined with 7mm of sag would net out to approx 28mm with correct length springs. That's about the right amount.

[size=3][font=times new roman] Anodized aluminum will always be susceptible to fatigue. It's not a matter of "if". It's a matter of when. This time around I'm going to try Kevlar reinforced carbon fiber. Kevlar is used to stop bullets. It should be strong enough to survive the Interceptor...
