CB550F Cafe Interceptor

Absolutely... Gorgeous!

I built rear sets from alloy plate for my 350LC, I was very pleased with them, but now I know how much better homemade can be!

Have you flashed those high power LED's yet?
Wondering what the angle/spread of the light is like?

Thanks Alex,

I'm waiting for the signals to arrive in a couple of weeks but I have them on my Triumph and they're blinding. Wide angle and brighter than stock, even in daylight.

Plucking away!
Waiting on the signals to arrive.

The little plastic plaques represent the general the size of the signals.
Not the actual shape or height.
Question is, where should they go? Exactly.

Flattering perhaps but you'd think they chould have at least sent me a set for the design inspiration.

Sorry all you winter bound folks but it's a stunner in Vancouver today. No bike insurance but a great day to tidy up the Lab.

Got the new headlight and Watsen Design LED signals sorted.
These are the nicest signals I've ever seen. Bella!

What's the purpose? Transfer heat to the carb bodies for cold weather riding?

Also sorted my Hindle muffler bracket with a little freehand milling.
Now off to the anodizer and it's a wrap.

Ya, stock bikes will never go out of fashion.
Once the Cafe craze is passé, then what?

Oh, thanks for the reminder. I need to update the "Today" picture.

My S.O. is here looking over my shoulder. She said "go up to the top, click delete account, and never come back to this forum again. Theey are bitter ppl and youre better than that."

As we all know, we men must listen to our wives or suffer the consequences. Have a good one. The one thing I will not do is get down in the mud and wrestle with _______. Take care and Adios.

LMAO

Well its HIS bike and he will do what he wants to it!

Does this sound oddly familiar? ::)

Sorry Funjimmy, there is and will be a minor thread jack in progress!

But your bike is looking fantastic! The new headlight and signals are awesome! Any other changes planned?

More action than this thread has seen in ages. :)

Only remaining project is a carbon/Kevlar chainguard.
The front mount on the aluminum chainguard fatigued and failed.

Had the bike out for a short shakedown blast around the neighborhood and kept hearing an annoying rattle & buzz.
Closer inspection revealed the failure. Front chain guard mount fatigued and broke. I guess anodized aluminum isn't the ideal material for a chain guard.
I even had a funky Teflon glide incorporated too.

So what should the next gen chain guard be made out of to prevent future failure?

Anodized aluminum will always be susceptible to fatigue.
It's not a matter of "if". It's a matter of when.

This time around I'm going to try Kevlar reinforced carbon fiber.
Kevlar is used to stop bullets. It should be strong enough to survive the Interceptor. :)

Mold ready for the layup!

FunJimmy's 8 layer drip!

2 layers of carbon, 1 layer of Kevlar, another 2 layers of carbon and 1 layer of Kevlar finished with the final 2 layers of carbon all shoved tightly into the mold.
