Had he same issue what I did was used needle nose pliers and crimped the metal sleeve

I think the stock seat is fine but for what Im trying to do I just cant picture it working for me

Really enjoy this site so many nice bikes. This is my 83 Suzuki GR650. notice in the pictures I have no seat because the stock seat is too dam ugly. I am in the process of starting to build a seat for it.
