Does anyone have experience with the old Bridgestone bikes? I found this one locally. It has 5000+ miles and runs. Asking price is $500. Is it worth it?

$500 is about the max one of these is worth.

That being said, they are cool little bikes. Switchable transmission from 4 speed sport to 5 speed standard.

Thanks man, I took a pass on it. Seemed like a cool bike... but I ended up with a 69 triumph tr250 instead. 8)

I would take the triumph too, but a bridgestone put back together right can snag $1500+.

They are a lot of fun to work on and really fast for as small as the engine is. I have a 67 BS90 that is in about a hundred pieces and awaiting paint. That thing would do 65mph, yup a 90cc doing 65 with a 6'2" 180lb guy sitting on it. Parts are fun to find and you make a lot of friend when you have a Bridgestone, you have to, in order to find that spare kick start or fork seal it takes a team :)

Any way, my 2 cents for anyone that comes along this.

Bikes these days go for a forrrtuneeeee, i just saw a bike exactly the same as mine (CB200) go for $2000 on ebay, which is nuts. This looks so much like the cb175's from that era, its funny that everyone digged that look.

sorry cb400t, didn't see that little "ny" tucked in there. The bike is located in South Bend, IN.

Not a DT175, you are thinking of the 350GTR.
go to bridgestoneparts.com and try to score a dt175 in that shape that runs for less than a grand and then post a comment. I have a dt 175 and parts alone will run ya a pretty penny. Besides bridgestone are becoming pretty rare bikes...idk I just love my bike and uneducated price quotes piss me off......just saying....

bridgestoneparts.com is out of their minds on prices. $40 for a piston ring?

I also have a DT175, so I'd hardly say I'm uneducated on it. They are vastly under appreciated and don't hold much monetary value. Most people don't even know that Bridgestone made motorcycles.

You can find them running quite often on craigslist for well under $500. There was a running 350 for $800 recently. There was a complete non-runner DT175 on craigslist in NC for $50.

The bottom line is they're around cheap if you shop around.
