a shop in town has a complete, running cb350 for sale with title. they are asking $1200  . my intuition says this is too high but with winter upon us pickins are slim. bike is in fairly good shape and tank looks literally brand new inside. has new tires as well. what say you? would you buy? what price would you offer? guy has had it for quite a while... as in almost a year.

WEll it's really all relative. How much are you willing to pay? Theoretically, if you took the bike and had tires and tubes put on in a shop, it would be a good $200. So you can knock that price down to a G. Now, what else has been done to the bike? Chances are it wasn't running the entire 35+ years it has been around, unless it has a million miles on it (give or take), so at the least it has had a good set of plugs and a carb clean, maybe more. Ask what all he did, and start throwing that into the "time" table. It may be worth it, depending on where you are, etc. These things are getting harder to find for a good price. That's why I always start with the complete pile of shit rust buckets for $100 and spend HOURS getting them running, only to tear them down and start over again. Again, it's all relative.

You say they've had it a year? Sounds like top dollar to me unless its near mint and they may not really want to sell it too badly. You can find a nice bike for less money. Patience is key.

If you love 350's and plan to enjoy it for a long time then offer them $1000 and get it.

Since it is a "shop" versus a private seller, you may want to find out if you have to pay more tax or are there other fees (documentation fees, title fee etc.). I know where I live, I just pay a flat $25 tax if I buy it from a private seller and I have to pay Chicago's high ass sales tax  if purchased from a dealer or license shop. Let us know if you decide to buy and post pics too.

thanks for the replies guys. it's a 5 or 6 out of 10. went by and looked at it again last night after work. it's been sitting for a while.

luck hit me last night and i found a private seller on CL with a running bike, all original, new tires and exhaust, in good shape and hes asking $1000 for it and doesn't seem quite so firm on the price. hopefully i'll be starting a build thread in the next few days!

Where are you located? I know of a killer Japanese Domestic Model cb350 near Pittsburgh PA, that can be had for $700 or so. Maybe less. Runs with title. Its in terrific shape, but needs a little wiring work and the carbs need tinkered with. Its a friend of mines and I have personnaly rode this bike.

ya it seems like you guys come up with the killer deals! thats would be a perfect bike. another member had a decent one in ohio for $500

i'm in lawrence kansas (too far from PA). i think i am going to wave $600 in this guys face and see if hell help me load it in the truck ;D
