First thing to know is that the T/GT500 series used a couple of different carb bodies and several different inlets and airboxes and they are not as interchangeable as you might think. As long as they all match, stock jets and needles should be fine. Clogged or disintegrated filters don't filter well and really upset things. Start with a new filter in a clean stock airbox. Do not be tempted to cut bits off or drill holes it it until you know exactly wahat you are doing and dealing with.
If yours is a Titan T500 with long inlet VM32 carbs, it probably has 188 series needle jets with 97.5 Large round main jets. Those are getting harder to find. You can go with a 159 series and change to equivalent flow hex jets.
Try the guys on Sundial for more details of what works and what doesn't.
It's perfectly fine to want to stay with the stock look.
I'm looking at the microfitch for the air cleaner, and the key to increasing air flow is to drill some holes in the outer shell of the airbox, and change filter element. I don't know what is available for that bike these days. We used to use Filtron foam filters as a performance upgrade.
naw mains are large round 150 with p4 needle jets I can't find needles anywhere though (5fp8) though about replacing those. I bought a carb rebuilt kit but it was absolute shit. the needles were completely different. Yeah think I will get a new filter and new front tire so I don't kill myself In the process of tuning it. It's been a really fun bike thus far and can certainly feel the fun factor and great potential for power the motor has in the hands of a good tuner which perhaps maybe one day I will be..
Just a quick update. Getting cold up here so breakin her down a bit. tank was still leaking a bit of gas through the seam under the seat. Drained it gonna reseal it and hope it fixes it. There are no visible holes just a slow seep. Got the new air filter in. Bike was running really amazingly last ride. Brings a tear to my eye that the cold is setting in. Right carb still floods with fuel for some reason. I've had it broken down multiple times I have fuel filters in the tank and inline The floats are new and the valve closes like it should idk what else to do. I replaced the rubber in the petcock (it's a vacuum activated petcock) but it still flows fuel when on. That fucker pisses me off Prob just gonna get a Harley petcock and cap off the vacuum port on the carb. as I've read they have same thread. (22mm I believe). In other news fabbed up a café seat and it took off rear fender. I also chopped front fender. This bike looks fuckin awesome with a café seat if I do say so myself. Note to self making a seat sucks dick why don't I just buy one idk I always think I will save $ this way but honestly it's a lot of aggravation i'm one step closer to lung cancer after fume inhalation and the seat is always slightly wonky. Still have to body filler it and sand before paint. Bad news is paint across the board will prob have to be redone after gas seepage. It's not bad but hey I like to paint anyway. I got excited. Who the fuck paints first anyway. What a dope.
The seat isn't original brad it was recovered by PO with different foam. I honestly hated that style seat. Would of been alot more tolerable if it were flat. The seat pan is original I tried trimming the foam and recovering it but it looked way to wide for my tastes. That's where making a seat comes in handy you can get that perfect fit slim look. I may consider selling the grab bar but not sure as i think i want to keep this stuff around in case i somehow I get nastalgic and want to actually restore it. I have a strong urge to chop the rear of the frame though. I'm fighting it as that is something you can't just put back on.
Oh come on chop the shit out of it, put some chambers on it and have a blast. It's yours and you only live once. Stock is boring.
And sell brad the seat
All i need is a unrusty pan i have a super expensive suzuki nos cover &foam if your grab bar is nice i want it also i got chamber spec also i currently dont have time to make a set but would conside giving the blueprints up.
That rear frame loop adds torsional rigidity to the frame. Chopping that off is one of the more egregious fuck ups commonly done to bikes in the name of making it "cool." Degrading the handling and stability of a bike is not all that cool, in my book.
there is no loop alpha it has a cross brace between the shocks and then just some holes to mount the fender/ turn sigs in the back. I was talking about welding in a loop. no harm in chopping a few inches off the back of the frame.
Had a little progress. The seat took forever to make as usual and I am not entirely happy with it. At least I can say I made it though it will have to do for now as I cant spend anything on the project right now. I feel like the seat section is too long. IDK perhaps with a nicer seat cover and shortened up and better paint I may like it more. I just hate to dump money into this seat if I am going to just buy a proper one in the future. Making seats is hard work. got the front wheel polished up and the new rubber on it only to realize the new tube won't hold air. GOt enough $ from bradj for the seat pan and grab bar to get a new rear tire so that is about all I forsee coming in the near future. I want to get a flush mount tail light for the seat cowl as well anyone know if this one will mount flush?

I think your seat looks good, maybe tuck in the front part by the gas tank, but other than that it looks like it flows well with the rest of the lines, but if your anything like me...if your not totally happy with it, that likely wont change lol....oh and a quick hijack.....im in titan territory myself
