Coast to Coast
After finishing my last project, Rising Sun- 1972 CB500 and riding the piss out of it all summer I've decided to do another for a friend. As luck would have it I found an intact 1972 CB500 from some guy that had too many. It had 38k on the odo and plenty of rust to go around but it was intact and solid and the price was right- $150USD. The motor will be used for parts as I have another low mileage motor to use instead. So I dragged the crusty roller home and started planning. This project will be much more involved than the last.

So far I've stripped her down to the frame and started sorting out the useable bits and shit that needs rebuilt and/or modified and/or painted.

I won't be doing too much til after Halloween as I'm real busy building props for a party.

Here's a quick rundown of the plan:
Motor: Bored over to 555, electronic ignition, carb rebuild/ rejet, air pods, custom exhaust. I'm thinking I can get a solid 10 Hp increase over the stock motor.
Frame: sandblasted and custom painted, useless tabs cut off, etc.
Custom tank, seat/fender, bobbed front fender, custom speedo/tach, sidecover, license plate mount/light, cafe bars, bar end mirrors, new tires.
I'm looking for some mag wheels like the ones on the 85 Honda Ascot but thats a shaft drive bike and I don't know if the rims would work. The rims on an '81 Kaw 440 Ltd may work.
The top pic is Rising Sun. The bottom is my next victim.
