1972 DT 250 - First Project EVA

Guys. Shit.

So I live in an apartment in Atlanta and had to park my bike in their parking deck. Over the winter I had been doing minor things here and there and was moving along, albeit slowly. I had stopped the leaking and was on my way towards starting it fairly soon. Well. Last week I went out to the deck after having not worked on the bike for a month or so and it was gone.

REPEAT. My bike was stolen.

Before you ask, I checked with the apartment complex and they said they have no record of it being towed due to disuse or anything like that.

Now I'm stuck in an awkward predicament. I can't even report the bike stolen because I never had it registered and (incredibly stupidly) never even got the proper paperwork that might prove the bike is mine.

Basically, unless by some miracle someone finds this bike I'll have to start over on a new bike. Anyone in the Atlanta area, be on the lookout PLEASE! I'd love to be able to find this thing.

She's a beaut, Clark.
Seriously, the first gen DT's were more fun than a barrel of monkeys.
Quick enough to ride on the street without getting a Buick Roadmaster rammed up your ass and decent enough to ride in the dirt so you wouldn't get your ass handed to you on a platter.
Have fun with your build.
I'm jealous.

Sorry man. That sucks. I guess I would notify police regardless and then post VIN number ncase someone on here sees it. Then I would call local small bike shops and let them know what happened in case someone came in to get money for parts. Keep checking craigslist for your bike. Ask around if anybody saw anything or post a reward. I can guarantee you that the police probably wont do anything for such a small dollar amount item. Unless..... you find a cop that is into vintage bikes. My guess is that somebody there took it.

Oh man I hate to see this! I was hoping we could hit the trails when you finished... Are you on instagram? I can repost it there. I have a lot of friends that follow me on there that live in atl, and are in the bike scene. We have recovered at least 2 stolen bikes ( in atlanta) through there within the last year!
Feel free to pm me or shoot me a text 678-634-4611

Would you want to sell the shocks or the 360 engine? I'm interested if so.

Also, I maybe picking up a big load of old yamaha 2 stroke stuff this week. I would cut you a serious deal on one of the project bikes if that all pans out. Maybe a 175 frame we could wedge that 360 into!

Unfortunately I'm not on instagram. But if there's anyway you could spread the word or something that would be killer. To be honest though, I don't have much hope in finding it.

But yea man, If you end up picking up an extra project I'd love to take it off your hands for you. A 360 in a 175 frame sounds outrageous haha. Definitely let me know about that. If it doesn't work out though I'll probably try to unload the parts I still have. Maybe make a couple bucks to pay for my next project.
