Justin, I'll trade you an RD125 for your fo'hunnid.....
Thanks fellas, I'm pretty happy about it. My wife just told me I have a sick mind however because I told her I needed to roll another project in here since this one is almost done. I can't sit still, I'll go cray without something else to wrench.
102 miles on the clock today. Tightened up the joint between the swingarm and the final drive because it had a little trickle. Had a plug boot that was loose causing intermittent fire under load, popped that back on. Otherwise she ran sweet!!!!!! This bike pulls like a freight train! Holy crap I'm in love. Consider me a BMW fan. Amazing ride!
Brother this is awesome like we were talking about the other night what a long way she is from that poor beat down girl she was when we pulled her out of that broke down house. Amazing!!!!
Really nice dude, really great. I'm gonna have to show this to Josh's dad, he has all kinds of stories about riding his BMW through Germany back in the '70s.
Thank you guys so much, I can't believe how much I love this bike. It is a blast to ride!!! Had one small set back that I remedied tonight. I could never get the final drive to swing arm joint to quit leaking, so I knew something was up. Pulled the rear end apart again and it turns out that the swinger still had some old gasket material on it that got powdered over, so I didn't notice it. Wasn't letting it seal! So I took a brass wire wheel on a grinder to it tonight and cleaned it up and used some silicone impregnated gasket paper to get that sealed up. Another problem was that the fill and drain screws for the drive shaft fluid were stripped and wouldn't tighten down. Its my fault, I over torqued them. So I drilled them out, tapped them, and heli-coiled them. Then made some new drain plugs from stainless bolts with new crush washers. Went on a 30 mile ride tonight and she runs perfectly, no leaks! I've got just over 300 miles down. Gonna hit 500, dump all fluids and put in fresh with a new oil filter and hit the road! All that is left is mounting the panniers and adding the tool box.
Don't worry girl, it won't hurt!
All cleaned up
Heli coils in place
Homemade stainless drain and fill plugs: $3
And she's happy!
Also got some glamour shot pics today with the DSLR, soon as they're uploaded you'll see em here!
Wow Kiley, step 2 ride the crap out of her all over the continent. Nice, have you tried 2-up with Denise yet? Or will she ride along beside on the CBR250R?
Yeah trek, I just couldn't bring myself to chop up a toaster. This was a one year only bike and it would have been a crime to chop her up, I just couldn't do it. Justin I love you, but this one has entered the perma-stable. And Mike, she has ridden it two up with me, but she prefers to ride her own. I can't blame her there at all! In fact, now that the BMW is done, it's good for Denise because it's conditioning her. She gets better everytime we ride.
Here's a shot that just finished uploading. RAW files take forever to convert.
