1973 XL175 Vitamin C Hell Ride

If you look in aviation parts on eBay you can pick up connectors that have a stainless collar at the female side that snaps tight around the male side, you have to shrink wrap them every time but they hold tight. I have been looking at buying a whole harness off a modern street bike to rob all the little micro plug connectors from for the lock fit they have too.

I have a spare XL185 coil if you find the Yamaha doesn't fit the bill.

Thanks Tuna. I appreciate it. I also have this coil I got from TBolt that's supposed to be a 6v coil for a CT70. But, the primary resistance is 3.3 ohms which I understand to be the normal primary resistance for a 12v coil. The Yammi coil is 1.6. ohms. I went ahead and put a bracket on the CT coil to mount it, but don't trust it's the right option.

Deviant,
aside from the electrical gremlins, how's that XL running ?! it looks good ;)
Thanks, hombre. Gremlins are gone and the bike runs great. It's my commuter and when the Sumter National Forest OHV trails open up in two weeks, it'll be much more. Right now, all the off roading is coming from service roads, construction sites and pipeline trails. At this point I'm replacing parts (like the points and coil) that are good enough to run, but probably close to original (at least I have no idea how old they are).

Are the pipeline markers yellow or orange? I used to do right of way work for a certain one.

:)

Not much. Probably somewhere between 70 and 80mph. I haven't taken it over 60, I know that much.

Yeah. I built the CB360 to do the ton, but I haven't done it more than 3 or 4 times. The GL, that is another story. This XL is great for what it's made for. It will never see an interstate highway.

Yep, your GL will hit the ton with no drama, you need to get up over 120 before it even feels fast LOL.

And just like that, after a wonderful BOTM honor, I've already changed the fairing. I cast the fairing for the GL 750 XL and got it installed. The mounting points are figured out and a dry fit is made. This week it will get paint and match the rest of the bike....

Just wondering, deviant do you think you can find an electronic tach. that'll work on your bike ?
Dunno, I haven't looked. This bike didn't come with a tach. Honestly, I've even considered deleting the speedo. I'm not sure they make them, unless there are some on the market for early Harley's or Indians.
