1975 Honda CB500t Gas Tank

- Came off of a running bike
- Holds fuel (still has fuel in it)
- Really nice shape inside, minor orange discoloration (see pics)
- No dents
- Gunmetal blue paint is fairly new; has some faint scratches, chips on edges, & two faded stickers on it
- Cap/Lock and key that works comes with it (probably any key would work with it, though!)
- Petcock comes with it
- Would consider a straight trade for a 1976 or earlier tank of equal condition off of a CB750, CB550, CB500F, or CB450

Make me an offer & thanks for looking...

This is the tank that you have for sale on the PHX craigslist for $300? These sell for $50-75 in that shape (albeit not necessarily with nice paint).

To answer your question, yes. Here is the listing as a matter of fact:

http://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/mcy/3480273753.html

Please read and pay attention to the following key points:

1) You'll notice my ad here specifically states "make me an offer", which means I am open to offers or the stated trades.

2) If you scour CL ads and the ads in any forum classifieds section, no matter what item it is or what the forum's subject matter, you should know that there is a difference between CL prices and forum prices.

3) I have forced exactly zero of the people who have contacted me with interest in the tank on CL to contact me. They have done so of their own free will.

4) As to your assessment of the value of my tank, here is every stated-price CB500t tank listing I can find on Google from the past two years, lest you begin to erroneously inform others that I censor the internet or prohibit them from researching values and making decisions on their own. Or, if you yourself believe that others are unable to research and decide the value of things on their own.

5) This one is last on the list, but has the most importance. Going through life trying to paint good people in a negative light for one's self-aggrandizement is a poor strategy when it comes to business, family, and friendships - doing so can easily turn one into a pariah. I really do hope you take that to heart.

I apologize in advance to the mods. Simply defending my ad, something I did not expect to have to do.

Touchy much?

I'm just trying to let other folks who might not know that that's a really high price for that tank. There was a guy on CL in Phoenix selling one in similar shape for $50 a few months ago. Good luck selling it, I hope you get as much as you can.

A single listing a few months ago does not dictate all future prices. Reference point #4, found above. Regarding the clubmans, those are the bars that came on the bike and I've placed them in various orientations to see what they'd look like on this build, which will not result in a cafe (hence the reason it appears in the bobber/chop/brat forum). For the record, they will not be staying on the bike; they function purely to help me push it around my place. Personally, clubmans and cafes have never been my cup of tea, but I respect those who enjoy them. Rest assured, I am not one of those "just add clubmans and you've got yourself a cafe racer" types. Here's my conjecture & summary, based on your other posts: you feel newbies are infringing upon what has been a big part of your life for years and feel the need to play the old veteran/rookie game. That is by no means a negative comment toward you; it's a legitimate feeling to have and it comes with the territory in any aspect of life. Sports teams, workplace, hobbies, even internet forums. Am I far off? Fair enough, but know that I am a newbie to the forum - not to bikes, not to cars, not to fabrication, not to selling parts on CL, not to selling parts on eBay. BTW, you are adept at explaining solutions to mechanical problems to those who need help, I'll give you that. Thank you for your wishes regarding the sale.
