1975 CB750F wiring issues. help!

Been Around the Block
working on a buddies bike, that had a vetter windjammer on it. as i started to disassemble the unnecessary parts i found that the wiring for the windjammer was horribly done. the stock wiring harness was cut up pretty badly, so i ordered another off ebay. showed up today and im still having some issues. i removed the turn signals and high beam/turn signal indicator lights as well as the turn signals them selves. (still have neutral/oil indicator lights wired) i wired up a set of mini gauges, so the gauge light circuit is still being used. the problems im having now is the tail light wont come on (brake light works when brakes are applied), gauges wont light up. ive gotten the headlight to work on both high/low beams when the key/ign. is turned on (no on/off switch for lighting, headlight always on) and the electric starter works. what am i doing wrong here? does the tail light (running light) or gauge lights get power through a circuit i have removed? ive searched and searched and studied numerous diagrams and have had no luck. any help is greatly appreciated. thank you.
