RED DRAGONS!!
i bought a decent cl360 three weeks ago and have made quite a bit of progress so far, here are some pics.

this is the day i bought it for 150.00 with 6000 miles, runs pretty good.
007.jpg
started tearing it apart.
009.jpg
i was excited to do the seat pan so we started there.
012.jpg
this is the plug for the glass.
011.jpg
laying the glass down.
014.jpg
here it is all trimmed out. now time for the tank.
001.jpg
deciding on a design.
002.jpg
cut out honda badge tabs.
003.jpg
started dishing the sides.
004.jpg
both sides dished with a 2 inch teardrop mallet.

here it is mocked up so far. lots of work to go.

the front fender is damaged pretty bad so we chopped it down. some pics of the rest in primer.

we also cut uot the big ol gas filler neck.

I'm thinking about painting the fenders on my CL350 too. How did you prep the chrome and what did you prime with?

i sanded it with 320 wet sand paper, then a coat of self etching primer and then a coat of ppg k-36 hi fill primer. i know the primers are avaliable in spray cans for smaller jobs. i got mine at napa but any automotive paint store should be able to help you

this is a kickstarter a friend welded up for me
001-4.jpg
004-3.jpg
got my side panels made
005.jpg
got the dzus fasteners attached, to hold the side panels on. they are spring loaded and easy to take on and off, and i just think they look fast.

a little more progress over the weekend. tig welded the bar clamp holes

thanks, i got the idea from one of the bikes on this forum, cant remember who though. got the frame and swing arm painted today, and got the wheels
sanded and etch primed today also. im going to order tires in the morning. no pics yet. nice scoot ya got there rose city

the first three holes are from a snap on step bit set up, the rest are just from metal hole saws. and for the record it really sucks trying to cut a hole
in a curved surface with a hole saw. i have about two hours with a die grinder cleaning them up. thanks for the kind words.

started polishing the aluminum
003-4.jpg

also got the wheeles trued and painted with new dunlop 404's mounted and balanced, also new all balls wheel bearings
007-1.jpg

drilled brake plates too

Nice wheels, look awesome with the drilled hub. How much did it cost (if you dont mind me asking) to get the tires mounted and wheels true?

how are you polishing your stuff?

i don't have any supplies and want to get started so what do i need... are you using a polishing wheel? any steel wire brush?

This isnt my thread, but you can sand/soda blast sand with 600 and work your way up to 1000 or 1500 or even 2000 grit, and then polish with brown rue and then white to finish. to finish it off you can use autosol. Or you can sand all the clear coat and oxidation off and then work your way through the grits. Sanding mops are the best thing for polishing if you ask me. Cuts the time in half.

1976, i bought the tires had them trued and then spin balanced was $218.00.
SESSION101, i sand the aluminum first with 320 wet then 600,800,1000, then buff with black rue, brown and white last and i finish with autosol and a really soft wheel.
i have a 1hp buffer i made and 8'' wheels. go to dime city cycles web sight and look at the tech articles on the top of the page and follow along with herm.
thanks guys

hey 1976 i have never thought of soda blasting first, i have sand blasted first and way to much profile.... very interesting im gonna go experiment.

I'm loving the half-flyscreen. Is that something you cut down from a larger piece or did you pull that off another bike?

the fly screen is off a different bike. its gonna get chopped to, the clip ons and gauges dont fit at all. my new snap on air saw will take care of that.LOL
