This was posted about a month ago he still has it! Think this would be a good project bike? He wants $800 for it but I think I can get him down seeing as he has had it posted for about a month!!

Thanks for any input you guys could offer!

A good running 550 with a title for 800 is a good deal.
Looks to be in nice shape as well.
It obviously needs piped but I dont see any other glaring issues (other than the slight wreck damage)

When you go look at it look very closely at the triple trees to make sure they are not cracked.

I'm going to go take a look this weekend possibly. Can you guys just give me a heads up on what I should look for? Thanks!

As sonic suggested I'll look at the triple tree any thing else?

Im so excited! I've been wanting a motor cycle for the better part of a decade!

What are the chances you're competing with this guy for the same bike?

Look for oil leaks and seepage -- run the engine for 15-20 minutes. check the condition of the spark plugs, check compression, check damage due to being laid down, sprockets, chain, forks and fork seals, electronics, tire wear, clutch and all gears, look for smoke, look for rust or holes in exhaust, condition of tank, if he ran fuel filters, and in this case, bent frame. Not all of these things are necessarily deal breakers, but you can use them to bargain a lower price (although $800 isn't bad).

How did I miss this post?! It is absolutely the same bike! I called the guy today and he said it was sold yesterday. Hopefully it went to Bobby Joe. I'll comment on his post as well.

I hope the side covers came with the bike for they are rarer than rockinghorse shit, are always cracked and go well above $100 each used in good shape. Nobody is offering reproductions that I am aware of. The CB550F is a great bike and I like them better than CB750's.
