FOR SALE: My precious, 1975 RD250. The bike currently has a little over 525 original miles. I bought the motorcycle in late 2011 with 13 miles (yes, one-three), had the seals and tires (Avon RoadRider tires) replaced at Cast and Salvage in Philadelphia (Thank you, Ricky & Adam – shameless plug for those guys: www.castandsalvage.com) because it had sat since the bike was made. I rode it for a few hundred miles back and forth to school before deciding to stop to keep the bike in good shape.

BACKGROUND: The story I was told on the bike (was mentioned in posts a few years back) is that it was a donated bike from a dealer/factory to a “small engine repair school” for students to practice on in the 1970’s. I was told the shop went under 10 or so years after opening and the bikes sat for years and years before the building was purchased and was slated to be knocked down to build some kind of high-rise (Philadelphia). The man I got the bike from was tipped off that this building was full of motorcycles and they were destined for a dumpster if they weren’t removed ASAP. Fortunately, the RD (and a handful of AMF Harleys, Kawi 100ccs, and I saw an Aermacchi 350) were saved by this guy and stacked up into a shed. I was lucky enough to be able to buy the RD from the guy, as all the others sold very quick (I saw 5 or 6 bikes with 0 miles on the clock, the rest < 15mi – SCORE!) An 8’ x 8’ shed is not a good forever home for a bunch of motorcycles, but it is what it is and I am happy to have gotten it out of there… I believe I was the first person to register and ride it from 1975 (I like to think the bike had 13 miles on it from pushing it around the school for many years…)

The Good:
- All original (less the tires, which are basically brand new)
- Crank-shaft seals replaced just over two years ago when I bought it @ Cast & Salvage
- I have a clean, replacement oil-tank that is in good shape to replace the dinged one (don't have a picture yet, but can get you one if you’d like!)
- Very, very clean, very low miles.
- Doesn't get ridden (sad for me) but I did some nice wheelies while learning what “torque induction” meant

The Bad:
- No mirrors (minor), but they can be found readily anywhere
- Oil tank has a ding in the middle of it – (from PO had stacking stuff on top of it in his shed… It’s always the PO’s fault!)
- A little rust stain on the outside of the gas tank that impregnated the white paint (see pic. – dang PO!!!)
- Oxidation on the throttle control body (see pic.)
- Small dent in a corner of the fuel tank (see pic.)
- Doesn't get ridden (no fun)

Turns over by hand and runs well, but could use the carbs being pulled (read: basic tune up). The bike is a hard 9/10.

Would like to sell to someone who will do right by this bike and won’t be afraid to ride it - clearly I did not ride it as much as I thought I was gonna! If you want to buy it to stare at it like I did, that's OK, too! Clean PA title in my name. Would like $2,700 OBO.

Located in Southern New Jersey (about 25 miles outside of Philadelphia) < 2 mi off I-295.

I remember when you first posted this bike. kool story, good luck with the sale.

+1
Not a bad price at all for what is practically a new bike. Wish I had it to spare.

You'd have to do more than wiggle. You'd have to wobble, fall off the barstool, and hit your head on the floor :p
I couldn't get in the parking lot much less the ballpark ;)

If I had the dough I would come get that bike in a second. You should have no issues getting asking price.

Put that baby on eBay with a good reserve and sit back and open a beer.

adding a high buy it now option really puts the pressure on as well, someone may just pull the trigger

I wish I wasn't a little sissy about selling a vehicle on eBay... I guess there's a way to list for pick-up only?

What's the ultimate cut eBay takes (%?)

Shit... haha

Just tell the buyer they have to take care of the shipping.
I believe ebay takes 10% when all is said and done.

Touché - and I can do that... Tonight I will drink in honor of your inability to own my RD250 :p
Hell, if you really wanna get sloshed, I can tell ya about all the other bikes I can't afford either :p

Good luck with the sale Zoo ;)
And I know they're a hoot to ride, I have a DS7 ;)

nice stock bike!

ebay it for sure.

Guys buy bikes from all around the world. the fees you pay are out weighed by the higher price you get.

Assuming you'd take 2500 now.. just put it starting price $2800 No reserve , if cash.

State in ad buyer to pay paypal fees ( or they can 'give' you the money as gift?")
