Thanks for the kind comments everyone.

No I didn't restore it. It bought it from a ex-Yamaha factory engineer (now in the Aero-Space industry) .. he rebuilt the motor and painted the body work. Frame is still stock paint.

I upgraded the pipes (his were DG RZ350 pipes), wheels, rubber, brakes, rear-sets, bars, levers, chain, sprockets, ignition, fork internals, fork tubes, shocks, swing-arm etc. I even re-did the seat with better foam.

I'll ride and sort it out for a season or 2 while I complete other projects. Then I'll strip it, freshen the motor, paint it professionally etc. I looks and goes good now .. but its really gonna look and go good then!

At your request, some more snaps:

This is how I bought it about 5 years ago.

And now ..

Me too. I really love RDs with stock style paint and graphics with only slight aesthetic mods (smaller signals/tail light, that sort of thing).

those rd's are just one of those bikes with pitch perfect stance. I am looking at an r5 in my neck of the woods it's nice but it's not titled so idk he said he'd take a g but i only want to go 600. I like your trail 70 too. gun little collection.

What all is done to that jewel of a motor

Oh not too much bradj. Its mostly stock. Crank was balanced, new bearings and seals, ports cleaned up a bit. Stock carbs.

The biggest improvement is the MZB CDI Ignition and Charging System which allowed me to toss the points into the bad old technology trash bin.

Stock-ish RD motors are really best for the street imho. Once you start getting crazy with porting, compression and big carbs, these things become peaky, prone to seizures and not very user friendly. (ask me how I know)

Ha, I believe that Brad is well aware of the pitfalls associated with modding a RD350 motor. Talk about "seizure"
