I’m selling my 1975 Yamaha XS500. I bought it and began disassembling it to restore. I think with the exception of the exhaust, it’s all original with 1398 miles last registered in 1986. I am the third owner.
I think the exhaust is aftermarket because it’s single side and honestly looks generic. Issues that I identified: the right side air filter cover has a crack (pictured), it needs a new drive chain, fuel tank sealed, new fork seals, front brake caliper and master cylinder rebuild, and a LOT of TLC.
The engine turns but I haven’t tried to start it. I purchased a key and service manual for it.
The last few pictures are as it sits right now (disassembled).
Babies happened since I bought the bike and I’m slated to PCS overseas the middle/end of next year so I just don’t have time to give the bike the attention it deserves while trying to finish up other projects. Asking price is $650 firm, what I paid for it. I have clean title in hand.
Located in SE Virginia (Southampton County). Willing to drive a couple hours to meet up.
