1976 CB550 F - First Bike, First Build (now with photos)

i'm not sure if anyone answered your points question so here it goes. the part of the points that you should be worried about is where it contacts the crank spindle right in the center. the spindle is shaped like a camshaft and thus opens and closes the points as that wears down and gets closer to the metal is when you need to replace your points. i can't see how much material you have left from that picture.

Almost one year later and I have some news to post!!!!

There have been a number of issues from job loss, garage fire, bullet wounds ( to the carbs ), and just plain lack of knowledge. However, with a new job and a fresh M1 in my wallet, I am back on the horse again. I also have some help from a couple members who have been amazing. Currently, I am trying to get a set of carbs because I have a damaged carb body (bullet) and it cannot be repaired. That is need number one. The second part I am working on is the wiring. Here are some photos of various fixes.

As far as the carbs go, I am about to buy some 77 CB550K carbs for $60. If anyone has a better solution, please let me know.

I also need wiring help. Anyone know where I can buy a new or lightly used wiring harness for my 76 CB550 F ?

It's not what you buy, it's what you build! Big high five for jumping right into it. Keep up the effort and you'll have a fine ride that you just don't see around much anymore. We are the ones who keep the vintage alive. More heart and soul than just going down to the dealer and buying one.
