What I thought would take 30 minutes to install ended up taking most of the morning and afternoon. I should have known better...
I first mocked up the new Cycle X oil cooler with the components it came with. The adapter and filter was pretty straight forward. I must say, this is going to be a huge time saver moving forward. Never again will I have to remove the stock oil filter housing, cooler, filter, spring, o-rings, etc. The adapter that Cycle X made uses the screw on oil filter type. Easy as 1-2-3.
Looking at their website, you can see that shown in the pictures are 90° fittings included with the kit. Well, that wasn't the case. 45° bends were included, which when mocked up didn't really work for the way I wanted to route the lines. I went to a local hardware store to find some pipe fitting, and ended up with these brass fittings to 3/8" line. $5.99 each, and I got 4 of them - two for the oil cooler, and two for the adapter. I plan on painting them black with high-temp paint, or getting them powdercoated once I tear the bike back down. This helped a ton with routing the lines right against the frame tube and as far away as possible from the headers. Sidenote: I HATE those hose clamp fittings. Ugly.
