"Custom Aluminum Polishing & Vintage Bike Builds"
Hi everyone, just aquired my new baby. Gonna cafe it out with a silver frame, orange tank and seat combo, with black spoked wheels. So far, this is the start of my progress.

Cool Bike to start with, I love CB750's! Welcome to Do The Ton! When are you getting started on your project?

When you do be sure to take lots of photos while you work and post them on DTT in the Big Arse Project section, sounds like it will be just that if you going to strip it to paint the frame. I am somewhat of a newer member myself, however I am a long time gear head and wrench turner, I simply never joined a site that I felt I wanted to share my work and skills, until DTT.

If you have not already wondered through all of the site you should take some time to do so, there is tons of sound information on this site posted by many knowledgable people who I have found to be friendly and helpful.

Here is a link to my friends bike that we are almost done with (72 CB750):

Cheers and good luck on your project!

Orange and black sounds sweet but I'm a little bit biased 8)! The silver frame sounds especially clean. Are ya gonna build your own seat? If so what materials are ya gonna use? If not do you know what style you're going to buy? Anyway man good luck and keep us posted!

Re: 1978 Honda CB750 SuperSport

Thanks for the great info guys. When I got the bike, 3 hours later + a crapload of beers later too, i noticed the engine has a slight oil leak. So I began making some mental notes and split them in need fixin' categories... Motor, Chassis, and Goodies. Since I built a CB350 Cafe (See Pic) I decided to tackle this one different, this time from the ground up.

Well, today I just got off the phone with my newly found engine builder from Craigslist... Gotta love it. Good ol Clist. Anyway, his name is Rob from Robs repair shop in Denver, CO. He is gonna replace all my gaskets, send my heads to a machine shop for dna, and seat my valves for a great price. Since I will bring him only the motor with a good ol' gasket set from eBay. I will strip the entire bike down and paint the frame. I hope to pry into this next week. We will see how it goes, still working on my 1st project but that should be done by this weekend which leaves me ample time to pull the engine. I will also have him change out the old rusty bolts and replace them with a stainless steel set from eBay. Guys of you haven't done this already its a great way to not only freshen up the looks of the engine but also make it more user friendly when you decide to tear into it again. This time the bolts will be stainless steel and you wont have to worry about strippin off the good ol' rusties.

I am still riding the fence on paint schemes. I guess what I am after is a clean look that will separate it from every other black cafe racer out there in Denver anyway. Don't get me wrong I love black which is also my fave color but I think this time I will build it with a little color? Also, can't wait to clean those carbs... Gonna be funn!! Until next week stay tuned, in the meantime check out my 72 CB350 four.

It certainly will be fun, and if that 350F is any indication, this will be a project worth following ;) sweet. That tank looks cool. Is it the lighting or is that bare metal at the back? Love to see more pis-both the old project, and the new one. Can't go wrong with a Honda eh?

cheers

Re: 1978 Honda CB750 SuperSport

I'm slowly trucking along on the same model and year. We really need to start a 750F SS Mafia. Gotta love these widow making suicide machines. Definitely start a "big arse project". I want to see what you do with this build.

Oh, and welcome aboard!

Re: 1978 Honda CB750 SuperSport

Well, I sort of got sidetracked when I my SV650 almost blew up because of Vapor Lock. So needless to say I sold the CB750ss project to my friend Martin. :( Who in turn sold it to a fellow member amongst us... ;D Ha, gotta keep it the family. Matt see ya Wednesday...

Well as luck would turn out, I found a set of SV heads on eBay for less than a cheap hooker... So cafe less... I was bummed and ended up buying another project cafe which you will see in the link below. A 1978 Honda CB400T. My goal was to turn this bike around within a 3 week minimum. Many sleepless nights, hard work, and lots of cheap beer. So enjoy...

Thats funny... My first project that was bumped by the 750 was a '78 400 Hawk T1. I still have it sitting in boxes waiting for me to finish the 750... Wierd.
