Hey, I've been trying to use the search function to find an answer to my question, I'm hoping to figure out a way to make a solo seat that doesn't require hacking up the frame. the bike is just way too clean for me to justify stripping everything down to repaint the frame afterwards. plus, I'd like to be able to keep the stock seat if I ever have a passenger. Any pics or links to a cb750 that has a nice solo seat and didnt have to get chopped up for it, send em my way please!

In terms of buying something off the shelf? Good luck.

It seems as though owners off these bikes have long believe that in order to create a solo cafe seat, you must remove the hoop. Also, the frame is surprisingly long from tank to the end of the hoop, and it would take some fancy, non-universal fiberglass or aluminum molding to match directly with the hoop.

Now, there are probably a few options out there that would allow you to just lay the seat over the entire seat frame/hoop, and those may be your best bet.

I plan make a fiberglass seat that utilizes the contours and length of my XS650's frame...if I don't sell it first.

Removing the hoop has a lot more to do with the length from the tank to it, and how long a seat would have to be to cover it. That, and it'd have to be rather wide in the rear, most seats hit their widest point about the end of the seating area, and start narrowing back up.

I used the seat from a Honda CL on my 81 CB750K. It doesn't totally cover the rear where the fender mounts, leaving two odd bars sticking out and you would have to have something made to hold a tail light and license bracket if you remove that rear fender. Gonna need some fab work man. See pic for two terrible angles (I'm at work okay)

Also the seats from the 750F and C will not fit as far as I know, even from the same year.

I have a hotwings glass tracker seat that will fit if you take off the old seat hinge and lock mounts, can pull pics if you're interested. I had it mocked up with a CB750F tank, which may be wider at the back.

Hey. That's an intelligent, mature question that I wish more people would ask. Sounds like Rich Ard may have a solution for you.

Sorry for the delay on pics, I'll try for tonight fellas

Here's a pic of the seat on the CB750K frame I was going to use; were it me, I would trim the fender support rails - but you would be able to leave the rear frame brace in and so get a cool tail section without welding:

Sorry for my delayed response, I actually wound up stumbling onto a really good deal on the same seat that I have, guy was selling it really cheap because the cover was all torn, but the fabric is good, so I'm going to try to reshape it but keep the size and see how that goes.
