Hi Everyone.

I've wanted to build a cafe racer style bike for a little while now... and really got keen after a mate of mine started building one.
I had bikes when I was a kid, but after having a pretty bad crash at 15 and wrecking my bike, I stopped.

So after looking around on the net, and having a couple of bikes get away from me, I finally secured one.

So here she is coming home;

The engine runs alright, so providing a compression test is OK I will just give it a service.

After that I will strip the bike and give it a good clean, repaint the frame, etc.

I want to get some wire wheels, so if anyone knows what would fit that would be great.

Got a fair bit done today, the bike is completely stripped and I have started removing the paint.

All of the frame and assoicated parts, brackets, etc are getting sandblasted this week ready for paint.

In the mean time, I have ordered a pile of gear from dime city;

7" Chrome Classic British Style Headlight Assembly
2-1/4" Classic Round Taillight - (Satin Black)
33mm Steel Clip-ons - (Chrome)
2.5" Chrome Mini KPH Speedometer w/ Indicator Lights & Trip - (White Face)
2.5" Chrome Mini Tachometer w/ White Face- (1:7 Ratio)
Biltwell Kung-Fu Grips - (Black, 7/8")
D8EA NGK Standard Plug
NGK SB05F Spark Plug Resistor Cap
OE Honda Style Inline Fuel Filter
1/4" Clear Braided Fuel Line
Arrow Deco Style Turn Signals - (Chrome & Clear)
Arrow Deco Style Turn Signals - (Black & Amber)

made some progress to spite the shitty weather we have been having in brisbane...

Got a lot of my misc. metal items (mounts, etc) and my swing-arm painted as well as my wheels, tank and front fender.

dont worry, the tyres are being replaced, so I didnt bother masking them

It had pod filters on it when I got it and was running fine, so I assume the previous owner had re-jetted the carbs.

I can always change the jets again if need be.

if it has stock carbs it may have been running but I doubt it was running fine.
It isn't possible to 'jet properly' without blocking some passageways and modifying others

When I rode it, it seemed fine. Power felt good across the rev range, it has no dramas revving to 10k and didn't hesitate or stutter, nor did it backfire on over-run or blow any black smoke.

Anyway, I can cross that bridge when I come to it.... The bike never came with an airbox (just the side covers) so I can't (nor do I wan't to) go back to one.

hey have you got a finished product of this bike? did you change the bacl end? how did you attatch the seat and did you use a hoop and chop the frame?
