Had a show n shine thread, but realized I kept changing and cutting the bike so much it rather belongs in here.

Further plans include short shocks or temporary hard struts until winter, welding and wrapping the modified pan (even smaller than in the mockup) and actual drag bars. Also need to add something to the exhaust:

Any other ideas?

i really dig the rear man! cool idea on that one

Thanks man, I'm heading out to weld the pan together with my brother. Rather than cut and reuse the stock foam, I think we are going to try and keep it thinner with some closed cell stuff he has laying around. I really like the kicked up tail look.

Heres some better pictures for before the pan is welded (will be about 3" even shorter than it is laying on the bike):

My brother almost wanted to keep it this short and just round the tail... I didn't like that as much.

Since I will have access to the shop today I also want to look into designing lowering blocks/brackets for the rear shocks.

Grinding off the chain guard mount on the swingarm oughtta work. This bike has weird clevis to clevis shocks, i havent seen very many of those before, are eye to clevis shocks an eye at the top or bottom mount? If its the bottom, we may be able to make lowering blocks to fit a couple kinds of CBs.

Re: 1980 Honda CB400T Hawk bobber project

New headlight from a driving light, need to grab a 35W H3 HID kit so as not to kill the stock wiring. Light is mounted as far in between the forks as it can go - will get better shots later.

Thanks!

I have to snap some new pics, I added the rear plastics behind the seat and bought a taillight, gotta make a bracket. Stripped off all unessential wiring and moved the battery inboard further, took out about 25 14" sections of wire and re-taped it all. Also mounted the headlight a second time with the wires and cables routed differently - front end looks real clean now!

Oh almost forgot, also had a couple of foot long sections of pipe cut and bumped out to slip over the stock headers... slant cut straight pipes, gotta grind all the exhaust down and high temp semi gloss black them.

I wish I had a 16" wheel with a fat tire in back, only with time and money...

Here are some newer shots guys, got the headlight blacked out, including the reflector, a new 85W PIAA Star White bulb in there, and the taillight mounted with a 1157 LED light.

looks like a streetfighter-all you need is the HID headlight/mini windscreen and shorty can. Very cool

nice job,

question about the rims????
are they the origanal or an after install??

i have a cb500 and would like to installl them on mine to get tires with out tube, and to get wider ones on.
thanks,

thanks man,

they should fit my 500, would look good too.

thanks, any more mods going on with the bike, or are you done for now?

I like the Comstars too, although a 17" front and rear would be my favorite, but I dont think there are skinny rims like that.

This bike is done as far as I am taking it, I picked up a new project, so this one is now my brothers, we shall see what he turns it into.

man that looks good!

Thanks!

I need to get pics with a real camera, and I cannot wait to get both bikes torn down this winter so everything can be done in black.

I might do gold wheels on the KZ, but I do love how black came out on the CB.
