1981 Honda CM400 Build

O and bad news once again. Reassembled the bike and ran it for awhile and the head gasket that I just re- replaced is leaking, once again. What I did:
Cleaned the gasket head surfaces, torqued all bolts to spec and followed the honda shop manual to a "T" as best as I could.

The only hope I have is what I have read awhile back on taking the cover of and retorquing all the head bolts again in correct pattern to double check after the initial start and run once it has been reassembled.

Needless to say I'm bummed out.

What I did along with replacing the gasket since the bike was apart, once again.:
I snagged the headlight from my Virago project since the CM400's was in bad shape and it matches (much brighter).
New battery.
Wired my taillight
Replaced ALL cables and have word that my seat will be finished from upholstery in a week or so.
Anddddd of course this head gasket leaking again keeps pushing the date further into the cold for when I feel comfortable with the bike on the road.

Waiting for warmer weather. We had a low of -7 yesterday and without heat in the garage it's out of the question. I've been pulling parts of my gals 75' CB550 and cleaning parts in the house for the time being.

Thanks for reminding me of how long it's been hahaha
Trust me, I'll finish it!

I got the bike with these tires. A shitty Cheng Shin front tire and a Bridgestone spitfire rear. Most likely will go with Shinko 712's when I decide to replace them.

Currently building a bench to revamp this build on. After I finish it (by Friday)I will continue on this: http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=58188.15

Moto accident, coaching HS wrestling, and more recently, finals last week, have kept me from doing most things I truly want to do. But I'm gettin back, best believe it!

I just wanna say im eager to see how the rest of this build turns out! Iv had this thread bookmarked on my computer for months and I keep revisiting it as I finish up my 81 Cm400. Seeing the humor in the fact that weve run into almost all the exact same issues. HA!

Cheers brother and I hope to see more on this!

Been a lot going on in my world, gotta get back to this! Currently the GS took position over the others; literally and figuratively.

That's my old friend Matt on the ramp.
He picked up an 89' Kaw ZX6 a few weeks back.

New (used)Reg for the GS came in today. I have a bunch of other parts for this bike but not quite enough to do all that I want to do all at once. I plan to do what I can to get this roadworthy by the end of the month. Maybe I'll start a thread on that progress soon.

yessir, cant complain. finishing up the school year, so ill have some time off to tear it up with the old smoker I just finished up. gonna have to get together again sometime

I'm game, whenever's clever !

May possibly be renting my girlfriends parents place if her father lands this job in Cinci. Their current garage happens to house my moto's, tools, welder, beer, press, fluids, stove, .. yada yada.
I'd truly hate to see them go but I'm set up for some MAJOR productivity this summer with unlimited access pending. Maybe crank out all 4 if I can fund it accordingly. I want to go crazy out there.

Been up last two nights till 4 diagnosing, disassembling, prepping and parts ordering. I planned to make a mad dash this week to attend the Pinned Ohio on two wheels at the Paddy next Saturday .... This evening I saw a photo and apparently the event was today Lolzlolz.

Welp, $$$ already spent last night to get her on the pavement in a week. Balls rolling regardless; all parts will be here Monday-Wed. Guess'n I'll just have to stick to the original plan. A week of long nights and GS work ahead.

Solid GSmods will follow soon after this through tune-up/addition of some tasteful components. Big plans for the GS! The CM(full engine rebuild/ lots of other stuff)/Ninja (collision repair)are due to be worked in between GSmods. I'd love to have the CM done for Mid-O so Layla can ride it, time will tell. I'll have to catch up on some threads soon too but right now I gotta nose down for a bit.
