Well I finally got the title so the build has begun. A little back story on this bike. This bike used to be owned by one of my employees who passed away a couple of years ago. Last summer his widow called me asking if I wanted to buy his bike. The only condition was that I actually fix it up and ride it instead of selling it off. It had been sitting is storage since he had his liver transplant in 1998. It's only got 3600 miles so it is in pretty good shape. The only bad thing was that it sat with a half tank of gas until I took possession. Needless to say the carbs we completely borked.

Here she is the night I picked her up.

I got new carb kits and pod filters as well as the correct jetting for the pods and the Kerker pipe. Once I got the carbs cleaned up and rejetted she started with one kick (the starter solenoid is bad). Current plans are:
Midsets from Durgam_K
Clip-ons
Legendary cafe seat from Mikes
xs750 tank (on it's way from cali)
New Brigestone Spitfire RWL tires
Probably the sexy triple tree clamp from Durgam_K as well but I'm currently out of money.

This past weekend I started taking some things off like the rear fender and old pegs. I also started on the new midset install. All I have to do with midsets is to cut and drill the brake and shift levers.

I have a buddy who owes me for some computer work so he's going to polish her up for me once I get the new tires on. I also realized that there is a crap load of stuff that I need to cut off before I can do the seat.

For anyone that has done the midsets, what did you do with the old passenger peg mounts? If you removed them what did you do with the rear brake light switch?
Also, for anyone that has removed the rear grab bar, what did you do for the shock mounts?

Ebay score? I think I looked at that tank!

Sure was, listed for $125 or best offer. I offered him $85 and he took it. 8)

Love the XS650s. That tank is a beauty too! What are your plans for the seat?
