Gents,
My brother asked me to post this on here. He is working on a moody old ninja, and fixing a ton of problems the previous owner created. Any help would be great.

Howdy guys.

I have a question for the most experienced among us, with regards to doing re-builds, mods, etc.

Question: what size main jets should I install in my carbs on this bike?

Here's the context:

1986 Kawasaki ZX600-A2 / GPZ 600 R Ninja

Specs:

All stock with the following mods:

Pod filters installed to replace factory airbox

Vance Hines 4-to-1 exhaust

Kawasaki Service Manual recommends #105 on 1 & 4, and #108 on 2 & 3.

Right now I've got 124's sitting in all four carbs. I believe the that previous owner "tried" to mod the bike, removing the airbox, and compensating for the additional lean mixture by taking a significant leap upwards in jet size. However, is this the right size? I seem to think not, base on the some of the problems I'm seeing.

1) Extremely rich mixture. Floods out easily. Wet plugs, etc.
2) Inconsistent power band. Bogs down easily unless at WOT
3) Has a difficult time cold-starting

Problem is, best information I can find in all of the blogs is that I need to install a stage 3 kit. But, what size jet should I go with in that kit?

Any pointers you can offer would be great. I appreciate and respect your feedback.

Thanks!
