1994 Salem by Cobra 20' Campa redo!

You might want to consider finding a weight distribution hitch for your rig. It's not a big, long trailer, but you'll benefit from distributing the hitch weight better on the tow vehicle as well as controlling back and forth sway in the trailer itself. Check out places like ebay, Craigslist, and local equivalents, I've seen such systems up for sale on a regular basis at very reasonable prices.

I have been keepjng an eye out. Not sure I need one as it towed fine but if we start hauling it longer distances it makes sense.

There are lots of good reasons to have one; helps distribute the weight on the trailer axles better making for better tire wear. Also distributes the weight better on the tow vehicle that helps tire and suspension wear and helps for more even brake effectiveness. It'll also help the tow vehicle ride more level so you aren't shining your headlights up into the trees. They take a bit of messing to get sorted out but it's worth the trouble.

yep, I've used them in the past with my parents rigs. Those were 6-8000lb trailers and you needed them bad. I'll likely score one for this or at least a sway bar setup but for this season we are not towing it very far for the 2 trips we have planned so I have time to find a deal.

Yes sir, finding a deal is what it's all about! Good luck!

Got it for $1600 USD. Have maybe $500 invested since and almost done spending. Elbow grease is the largest investmwnt.
Damn man! You made out really well with this. I would love to find something similar in that price range.. putting in the work to redo parts of it would be part of the fun also.

100%. Even new campers end up needing work and maintenance. We're happy to have made the deal. I called 6 min after the add was posted and he had 16 offers after but held it for us to drive the 2 hts to look and then paid a deposit and went baxk to collect. Really nice guy in Maine. Id been watching adds for 1.5 years and missed 2 other similar by minutes.

So an update, the tow vehicle failing inspection and needing $1600 in parts and then days and days of my time to get fixed to pass put a slow down on the camper. Jill kept right on going and all the painting is done minus small touch ups, I was in it last Friday from 12-6PM to get the floors in to be able to camp for the weekend. Got it usable and comfortable, last bits to fix/finish are the water system has some leaks, propane top needed a special connector which is ordered, lost a tail light on the 120 mile round trip and I still have work to do on the truck LOL. Anyway we are happy with it and it will serve us a few years for sure. Will get finished pics up soon.

One from the site on the weekend.

it looks good as new man, glad you were able to take it out and use it
thanks, we didn't have water connected but used the washroom at night with a jug to flush and the AC and Fridge worked perfect so had all the needed comforts we bought it for.

Yup, looks good. I'm sure you folks will get lots of use out of it. It's good to see them getting resurrected and used rather than sitting somewhere falling apart!

Ok so we now have no leaks in any of the water system and the stovetop connected so we are good to go as soon as the Pilot comes home from the shop. Jill is doing a thorough clean of the ac unit as well.

It's amazing what time, attention, paint, and some TLC will do Good job!

That's the way to go! The flooring I put in our 5th wheel last summer was from a Habitat store.
