2 stroke buzzing noise? (with video)

Hello,

I recently picked up a 71 Suzuki Stinger that was listed as not running. When I got it home, after a few kicks it started up.

I was pretty happy until I heard a very high pitched buzzing or squealing. I have a video below to illustrate the sound.

A friend suggested that it might just take time for it to go away since the bike has been sitting for nearly a year.

I just wanted to see if anyone else can add some insight so I don't do any damage.

Try taking a look at the reed valves, I'll bet that's what you're hearing.

That's a weird noise. As was already mentioned check the reed valves. They might be gummed up and sticking a little causing the air coming in to make them buzz kind of like how a kazoo works.
