I've been eyeing down these rear sets for my bike, and I just wanted a few opinions about if they will work barring a few modifications to either my frame the sets or some kind of mounting bracket. I have limited access (a friend knows a guy who is willing to help kind of deal) to welding. I'm thinking just mounting bracket welded to the frame would work. What do you reckon'?

i've done pretty much the same thing with my cb350 and some 02 GSXR rear sets. I just drilled a whole for one of the mounting arms into the passenger peg mount and welded a small section underneath to accommodate the second mounting arm. I'll get a picture when i can find one. if there is something on your bike to work off of I would say that's the best route rather than creating an entire bracket. what kind of bike is it? I'm sure anything can be done with a little bit of welding. my .02

Didn't win the auction but I'm keeping my eyes peeled and I'll prolly head out to the junkyard soon enough.
I'd love to see pics of what you've done. I have an idea and have seen lots of builds that are doing something similar to what you are describing. I just like getting as many idea's as possible.
I used '05 R6 rearsets on my Yamaha DS7.
I used an existing bolt location on the exhaust hanger bracket, and welded a tab to the frame.
This is during mock-up and primary assembly...
After I got them mounted, I picked up some allthread and some heim joints. A couple of hours of headscratching later, they were functional.
They've been through a trackday, and about three months of street duty. They work very well, with no trouble so far.
I am using a set on my build the GPZ 750 I took and cut the shifter in half and plan on rewelding it so that the heim faces the outside. I have a disk brake so the right side is fine. if you have a disk setup the the master cylinder for those rearsets is a very nice piece.
I had to move the heim on the shifter also. So it would rotate forward enough to be useful. I just drilled the stock one off and used a new one though.
I just picked up a set of r6 rear sets for my CL350. Planning on doing a similar setup. What is everyone using for the linkage piece that slides on the splines of the shift shaft? Do you just us a stock lever and cut it down, or is there something better? Thanks
