It's not yours 'til you cut it up.
I want to keep the 19 inch shadow (AKA deluxe) front wheel but upgrade the forks to a 37 mm and discs to larger diameter. I was hoping someone might remember a model that had this setup as a starting point. I thought a bigger older bike such as the GL1000 might which I'll look into now, but any other ideas?
Otherwise I'm going to need a workaround.
This is the setup I'm looking to put on and questions it raises:
37mm forks and triples of a donor bike (either change of bearings or with the CX500 shadow steering pivot pressed in to new lower triple)
Upgraded brakes ie. larger discs with calipers to suit. Do all hondas follow the same stud pattern for disc mounting around that era and what models might be worth looking at for larger discs?
Strong fork brace in place. By using the forks AND triples off the donor bike should make the possibility of finding a brace to suit a little easier.
Maintain the standard shadow 19 inch front wheel. I guess the trouble with this is not the mounting as spacers would help it fit, but mounting everything else to it migh be a problem.
A gaurd to suit. This is why I thought grabbing the whole front off a bike that had this setup might be easier as I can then run a gaurd from that bike quite simply instead of messing about trying to make something fit. I'm also hoping to find something 70's - 80's era so that I can hopefully run a chrome gaurd too.
I'm not asking too much am I? ;D
Any ideas?
