37mm forks with a 19 inch front wheel?

Staffy

It's not yours 'til you cut it up.
I want to keep the 19 inch shadow (AKA deluxe) front wheel but upgrade the forks to a 37 mm and discs to larger diameter. I was hoping someone might remember a model that had this setup as a starting point. I thought a bigger older bike such as the GL1000 might which I'll look into now, but any other ideas?

Otherwise I'm going to need a workaround.

This is the setup I'm looking to put on and questions it raises:

37mm forks and triples of a donor bike (either change of bearings or with the CX500 shadow steering pivot pressed in to new lower triple)
Upgraded brakes ie. larger discs with calipers to suit. Do all hondas follow the same stud pattern for disc mounting around that era and what models might be worth looking at for larger discs?
Strong fork brace in place. By using the forks AND triples off the donor bike should make the possibility of finding a brace to suit a little easier.
Maintain the standard shadow 19 inch front wheel. I guess the trouble with this is not the mounting as spacers would help it fit, but mounting everything else to it migh be a problem.
A gaurd to suit. This is why I thought grabbing the whole front off a bike that had this setup might be easier as I can then run a gaurd from that bike quite simply instead of messing about trying to make something fit. I'm also hoping to find something 70's - 80's era so that I can hopefully run a chrome gaurd too.

I'm not asking too much am I? ;D

Any ideas?

So I've found this list but I'm not familiar with all the bikes on here. Do any of these seem like they fit the bill to anyone? The GL1000 is a 37mm front which is a good start.

GL1000 will do the trick. I have that ok my build.

What mods were needed? Which build is it and what front wheel are you running?

I pinched these off an ebay seller. What I've figured out is that from 1978 on they had a comstar (which is most likely the same as the CX but will need to verify) and that the fork sets including triples, etc seem to be the same from one year to the next regardless of front wheel style. That being the case it seems all years might suit. From these phots I've pinched off an ebay listing I've figured out a couple of other advantages which are 1) no antidive on 37mm forks, 2) a simple top triple with a set back clamp which will mean the existing bars should smack into the fairing any more, 3) the turn stops look exactly the same as the CX.

It will also need the GL axle and I need to find out if the CX gaurd will fit as I might be hard pressed to find a GL one in good nick.

Another thing to figure out is if the spacing on the brake caliper mounts are the same, but I'm gonna hazard a guess that they are....

Still, this is looking like a plausible idea.

The axle is different to the CX so that needs to be included in the mix

I've checked out part numbers for the wheel from CX to GL and they are different, but that might be a minor thing as they appear identical.

And here's the GL wheel.

I have 1982 650sc Nighthawk and it comes with 37mm and double disc with a 19inch front comstar wheel...hope this helps!

I'm pretty sure the GL had a wider front rim which is why part numbers are different.
I think wheel bearings are all the same though

I'll sus out the nighthawk lead, thanks. The ebay wheel that I got that photo from showed a 19 x 1.85, whereas a mate just sussed out his comstar and it says 19 x 2.15, so it seems the CX has a wider rim which is odd....
