The battery is actually right underneath the seat (where you'd sit), and all the electronics are secured under the hump. It's not perfect, but I like it.
I gotta say, amazing. I didn't think a maxim could look like that.
You should post over at xjbikes.com... those guys know the seca/maxim series bikes inside and out, so they should be able to help you if you ever have any problems.
Just goes to show, every bike is a cafe racer at heart! Don't matter how much extra crap the manufacturers lay on top. Monoshock and all! Amazing. You might start a whole new craze of people buying up Maxim's.

Question #3. Can you post a complete list of mods?
A buddy of mine has a maxim 400 just like that and he is trying to figure out what he wants to do to it... I think this will help him make up his mind.
Indeed VERY nice work!! Its quite amazing. Hows it handle? I have never ridden one, but i have always found it interesting and wondered how using the motor as a stressed member of the frame effected the handling properties. Does she feel stiffer than a normally set up basket style frame? Again VERY nice work!!

just to answer a couple questions before I take some pictures and hopefully a video. It still needs work - fork oil changed, rejetting, messing with the gauges, and bunch of other miscellaneous adjustments to get it all in order.
1. the tank is off a yamaha 750 tripple. I pounded in the knee indents more to give it more shape (plus, i really needed to so I could get my legs to fit).
2. I made the tail using a two part plaster mold. Worked really well.
3. I'll post a list of mods soon, have to figure them all out. More pictures to come shortly. Got to get it all running really.
That an amazing transformation,I love it! My Seca had the exact same engine and they are nearly bullet proof if you take care of it. Pretty peppy for a 400 four stroke, air cooled twin.
As for handling someone asked about well my old Seca 400 was killer in the tight stuff and I never gave the fact that it was a stressed member bike a second thought. I will say ALL bolts/nuts must be checked periodically to insure the frame/engine are tied together as one unit. If not bad things could happen if you let it go. ;D
The above only applies to the Seca/Maxim I can't speak for other bikes/brands that use the engine as a stressed member as those may not handle worth a damn or may be unreliable in this regard?
