Waiting sucks! The seat from Glass From The Past and the rest of the exhaust tubing should be here this week. Hopefully ill get the motor done tonight. But in the meantime Im trying to polish a few things and so far im making things shiney but i wouldnt call them polished. Any tips would be helpfull.
This was my process ,Paint strip, wet sand 320 grit,600 grit, 1200 grit, and a hole lot of buffing compund!!! take your time. the more time you spend on it the better it will look.

The seat came today! If i can get down south on monday i might be able to get some mounts made and finish chopping and grinding the frame. It seems like progress is so slow but that is what happens when you live a hour away from the guy welder and mill (aka dad).

I got started on the battery tray to go under the seat and did some more prep on the frame. Kinda wandering how much support a fiberglass seat needs, i dont want the seat to crack. Any tips?

Fabrication is done on the frame. Ive got 3 weeks till my dad gets back from Africa and can start building the exhaust. Until then its paint paint paint. Time to refresh myself on TwistedWheels rattle can thread.

Finally some progress, the paint on the frame is done. I used Dupli Color silver wheel paint for the frame, swingarm, and kickstand. And semi gloss black for the tripple clamps, bar mounts, and shift/brake levers. I also picked up a set of fork seals and got the fork rebuilt tonight. The thirty five year old seals werent the easiest things to get out but with a little prying they finally poped out. Hopefully ill have a roller in the next couple days.

Got the motor back in the frame and most of the bits stored where i want them. Ill clear the seat tomorrow night and finally be done with paint. It will have to wait till next weekend to have another velocity stack made for the right carb and take the bike to have the exhaust made. Seems like progress is slow now that the weather is getting nicer, I cant wait to ride this thing

Looks awesome Russ, pretty quick turn around for a complete build. What is the plan for the pipes?

2 into 1 with a reverse cone meagphone. I have some 1 3/8 18g pipe and u bends for the heders and 1 3/4 to use after the collecter. My dad gets home this friday so hopefully i can get him to weld them up next week.

The exhaust is done! Im going to pick it up on sunday and try and get the thing running. Does anyone have any jetting info on running VM28s on a 360? Dont need exact numbers but just a place to start.

Nice work, man! Everything looks great. Frame, engine. Love it. Wish I could help you on the jetting. I know a lot of 360 guys that switch to VMs go with the 30s, so you may be the guinea pig on the 28s.

Good luck!

Finally most of the bike is back together. I had it running for a while on sunday it idaled great and ran through the rpm range good but is really rich when cruising. Pulled the jets from the carb and found two diffrent needles. New ones should get here tomorrow so i can start to get the jetting sorted out. The bummer is some gas leaked out on the cases and bubbled the paint while i was in the house but it shouldnt be to hard to touch up.

Me too! Im still trying to sort out the jetting and i cant find anyone who has run VM28 carbs on a 360. I ordered a few different jets last night so hopefully i can at least get it on the road soon. Im still pissed about the gas drips on the side cases but dont want to fix it until the carbs are dialed.

Turned out great Russ. Wish I could be some help with the carbs but I am sure you will get it dialed.

Thanks, I played with the carbs this weekend and im headed in the right direction. Need to get some bigger jets, im running a 170 main and its way to small. I also spilled more gas on the cases and they really look like shit right now. But no point in touching them up until i get the carbs sorted.
