Coast to Coast
hey all. its been forever. in the time of me being MIA i aquired two cb175's. a lot of you probably remember my 78 gs550 cafe build. it was my first true on road motorcycle besides the several dirtbikes ive owned in the past. it was also my first cafe build, and while it was fun, and looked great. it weighed 450 lbs dry, so roughly 500 wet. way too much bike for a 140 lb scrawny kid. so i traded it for the cb175's. one was a 69, complete, the other was a 73 rolling basket. i gave the 73 to a friend of mine to work on with him this winter (im such a nice guy)
the 175 weighs just under 300lbs wet - stock 250 dry, and i figure after i do my neccessary cafe transformations, it could weight about 250 wet, 200 dry
my ultra light cl125 made me really appreciate the nimbleness of lower displacement bikes, but the 125 is much too small to cafe. the 175 feels right.
here it is:
and to my knowledge, heres what its needs and is gonna get done.
pipes have been chopped short so it needs rejetted, carbs gone over
new fork seals, new battery, gonna go over everything and check to make sure its mechanically sound.
the frame was painted a really nice metallic dark grey, which is really really nice. im gonna go for a darkery metallic grey for the tank seat and covers. im in LOVE with the 69's squarer tank.mmmm.
new bars obviously (we meet again wired-through bars...)
fabricate a seat, do some wacky light/license bracket. etc
the tires are brand spanking new. and OH, did i mention it only has 1580 original miles on it? its 42 years old. thats 37.6 miles/year
