6v vs 12v condenser

Does anybody know if there is a difference between a 6v condenser and a 12v condenser? I just 12v swapped my cl100 and it just occurred to me that I didn’t do any research regarding the condenser, and I obviously don’t want to damage the 6v condenser or something else if it isn’t compatible with the 12v system.

Cool........what did you do for the conversion?

I have a CL100, I want to do that too.

Thanks bro, and I cannot answer anything about the condensor. I am very interested in the answer though.

I didn’t quite follow that forum for my conversion, but I did something similar. I opted for a 12v coil, rather that the original 6v coil with the resistors. I have heard that a cb350 coil is a good one to use. I personally used a oil filled coil, similar to what you might see on a older car, simply because it saved a few bucks. I other than that you need a 12v battery, a 12v reg/rec, and new 12v lights. I recommend led. I also am pretty sure you can leave the original condenser as well. I plan to do a little write up in my project thread in a couple months on how I did it, but if you’d rather not wait, feel free to shoot me a PM and I can try to give you a hand

A condenser is just a capacitor made from two layers of foil separated by an insulating layer.

for high voltage applications the insulating layer needs to be right, but i doubt very much if there is any difference between 6 and 12v condensers.
