71 CB 175 Build

Just joined this forum. I picked up this 71 CB 175 a couple years back. It brought back memories of the 175 I had when I was 15. It sat in garage for a year - I originally intended to restore the bike to original - but never could get to excited about the project. Then I began looking a Cafe Racers - that really perked my interest.

So after about 6 months - finally completed. I'll post some pics of the journey.

This is where it starts - a good power washing to get off the years of grease and dirt.

Every thing comes apart for cleaning - down to the wheels and spokes - polishing the hubs and painting the spokes. Decided to do accent colors in Burnt Copper. Frame in white. Tank in two-tone white and electron blue.

Finally. Obviously there was a lot more steps and work done over the past six months, but this is the shortened version.

Thanks. I just picked up two CB 450's from a friend that I've been eager to start on. Problem though...I'm running out space. The 450's are stored in my sons garage. I have the stratoliner and royal star parked in mine.

Awesome build, love the color scheme.

Are you ending up with a lot of burnt pants and boots though?

Decided to work on rerouting the exhaust for a better placement of the rear sets. Extended the pipes back a bit to allow for placing the rear sets above the exhaust.
