72 CL450 - "CatcH-23" OH THE TIMES THEY ARE CHANGING...

I started this build like 2 months back. just been too slamed at werk to post this up, but here it goes.

72 CL450 (botched cafe attempt by previous owner) good engine/trans. starts first kick. so i tore it down second day. short of the forks, frame, wheels and engine. everything was pitched in the dumpster or shiped home to my brother. i cant hoard parts, wrenching nights at my werk in NYC (small ass shop!)

plan every part handmade, or modified, shortened, machined of brass, lightened, throwin in trash!, stylized, shaped, smoothed or drilled etc.... ive also been sourcing vintage randoms from ebay, flee markets etc. not to much polish or chrome. and not all BLACK. going for gritty yet "finished looking?" cafe style with bobber influence. either way this is what i got thus far. hope you enjoi......

Re: CatcH-23 ( no bolt left unturned )

It's been so humid! and i have been dragging my feet. still managed to make a lil progress...

I cant dive into the build because i keep the bike in a parking garage next to my shop, and it has to remain somewhat of a roller most of the time. our shop is very small and usually filled with cars at night.

All that aside i started making some alloy motor mounts. messed with a headlight bracket idea. and started making a new kick lever and rear brake lever. heres a few shots i snapped more details to come after the weekend.

Nice build so far ;)

Watch the clearance on the rear - looks like the tyre will hit the cowl

I like the exhaust.......don't think much of your carbs :D.....and why did you switch out the underslung clubmans?

"When you’re not working here, what do you like to do?

Skateboard, ski, drink beer and hang out with my friends. And a lot of time is spent just trying not to get bitched out by my girlfriend…"

You may as well marry her ::)

Re: 72 CL450 - "CatcH-23"

Going really slow!!!!! so swamped at werk. and even when i get down on the bike. im SO anal! i think i have a problem. i spend way too much time on details, like smoothing out all casting lines on everything(stock and aftermarket). I wish i cared less. On the other hand, I did start some important jazz. On the cl450 the rear brake lever is fixed to the work stand, and since the work stand is ugly and heavy as fuck. i threw that shit in the garbage. i ebayed it up, and purchased 5 different random brake pedals and arms from 70 to 80's 550 and 750's and started cutting. cleaned the two i liked most and turned up a pivot point with brass bushing.

Re: 72 CL450 - "CatcH-23"

Positive: Love the details, especially the pivot point.

Negative: I wouldn't trust that the guy in the sport utility tank behind me would see the brake lamp that low. I appreciate pure aesthetics as much as anybody, but I would rather not be road pizza.

Great now I want Pizza.

Oh really? I think it's about to increase by an order of magnitude once she sees *that* in print ;D ;D
