Been Around the Block
Well might as well post my project. This is my first one and i'm kinda just winging it. i'm not too sure what i'm doing but i know the look i'm going for.

i starting striping the bike down this week. I haven't quite decided on the engine. Bore and hone or just put the engine back together with a new head gasket..

more photos below

By your photos that bike looks to be in nice shape. If you're doing the whole motor definitely replace the cam chain with a Tsubaki219 and replace the tensioner wheel set up with something like the KA Performance slider. Those are 2 week areas on these motors. Good luck and have fun.

well that's motivating...

I peruse the site quite a bit and was about to abandon this thread, but maybe it'll gain some interest once the bike becomes more pieced together.

here's the upgrades list:
engine:
replace cylinders (sleeve was cracked), blast, bore 0.50mm over and hone
replace camshaft and tappets with better condition set
new cam chain
new top end gaskets
paint flat black w/ stainless bolts

the rest:
powder coat frame GOLD. Misc parts BLACK
All Balls tapered bearings in steering stem
new rear shocks
new coils
points, condenser, spark plugs
Hondaman Ignition
clip-ons
replace pitted forks
fork seals
signal lights
stainless front brake line
replace rusted brake parts
brake pads
move indicator lights
new swing-arm bushings and dust guards
i'm sure there's more but i'm sleepy....

so far: I have picked up the frame from the powder coaters and installed the new tapered bearings in the steering stem. next up forks and make speedo bracket....stay tuned....

Good to see you're back at it. Gold frame, huh? Do you have more of a "profile" shot of it?

No profile shot of the frame. I'll get one up once it's a bit more built up.

and yes, the bike will be all black with the gold frame. maybe a bit of gold on the tank and side covers (if i use them).

danfr,

frame is looking great.

Quick question on nuetral / turn signals lights. Did you pull from the speedo/tach, or did you buy aftermarket lights? I really like how it cleans up the holes.

>> update. just looked closer. can't image these are from speedo/tach. Can you share where you picked up the lights for Neutral / turn?

Thanks, bww

I searched pretty hard for those lights. i ended up finding them at an automotive shop near my machinist. the lights fit perfectly snug in the rubbers for the handlebars. i think they were around $8 each.

i know carpy has some pretty similar. a little pricy but they are ready to go...

thanks danf. i've seen carpe's for $20/ea, but that seems like too much. Since checking out your pics, i've surfed ebay a little and there are a couple options there.

I look fwd to following your build.

I'm curious about how your build is doing? I have a gold frame/black tank color scheme in mind for mine and was wondering how yours is coming along. What color are you doing your rims?

engine is being rebuilt this coming week. I have some parts to pick up at the powdercoaters. Once i pick up the painted parts, the build should pick up pretty quick.

i grabbed a CB350FOUR a couple weekends back to drive around while i work on my twin. it was sitting for two years before i got it. getting it all tuned up has pulled some time away from my main project, but i should be back at it pretty quick.

if you search around, there should be other examples of the yellow/black combo. i'll probably stick with the chrome rims for now... do you have a thread for yours?

a few photos of my progress. I finally found a few hours on Sunday to put the front end together and a few other parts....

I've made a little progress in the last few weeks....

Top end rebuilt. I've replaced the stock screws with the stainless. The exhaust wrapped..

I was thinking of black wire mesh instead of sidecovers. I really should've thought this through before the frame was powdercoated ::) I'm looking to lower the rear with a set of 11" shocks if i can find them. Also plan on picking up a headlight bucket from roccitycafe and drop the speedo in.

My ebay score today. Payed more than i'd like to admit but i am growing impatient on waiting on a good dead for a tank..

any thoughts on something different than the sidecovers?

Looking good man, are you hoping to get it finished by the winter or work through the winter on her?

in any case are you willing to give the old tank away, I could use one for mine ::)

i'll be working through the winter. who knows, maybe spring as well.

i'm going to hold on to the tank and side covers. they're a pretty good set and I want to keep them with the bike.

HAHAHA, you and another member here (flugtecnic) were bidding against each other on that tank!

The 350f tank was the best tank made by honda IMHO. Should look good on there, looking forward to seeing more pics and work from this build!

well, shit. too funny.

I tossed my CB350F's tank on the twin earlier this year. It's my favorite style tank of all old Hondas. And there's no conversion bullshit to boot.

Can't wait till payday to drop more cash on parts! Keep this build rolling.

thanks for looking.
