73 CB750 'Lola'

1973 CB750K3
Just finished my 73 CB750 I call 'Lola'. I still plan to do the rims black but I think I'll wait till it's time for a new set of tires. I think the other builders on this site are amazing- so much creativity. You guys really inspired me to find my way through this build. For this bike I tried to keep it really authentic looking- as if I were doing the build back in 1973. I tried to preserve parts such as the Granturismo grips. 'Lola' was initially a reference to the sultry Lola of the musical 'Damn Yankees'; back when I was contemplating how much it was going to cost in time and money to finish. Later it also came to be a reference to the CB750 as the mother of all super-bikes. In any case I look forward to seeing all the fantastic creations that pass through this site. Now if I can just convince my wife to let me build her one... :D

Wow, love the white!!! looks great! If i may suggest one little thing... I would consider shortening the clubmans, maybe hack an inch or two off the end... everything looks great, but you have a little "dumbo" thing going on. Again that is just what I would do if it were mine, you might have them there for comfort or some other reason... Anyway, great job man!

Thanks pablohoney! I know what you're saying dakine- as it is now the mc almost touches the tach. Otherwise I would definitely move it in. I've been thinking about going to clip-ons as well which would allow a narrower setup. Also do you think it's the bars or maybe the mirrors?

Great build! Very classy look! As for the "dumbo ears", I run the same mirrors and bars on my CB350f, I have thought the same thing about mine and so have others, but I don't mind it so much. To me it is function over form a bit in that area as I like having mirrors that I can actually use! I would not worry with it, I know that pics sometimes make it look a little more awkward than it actually appears in person. Great work and Welcome to DTT!

I see what you are talking about with the MC... I am sure it is also just the pictures that draw your eye there... In flesh you tend to not have your eye gravitate towards those things... Is that a Benji tank and seat?

Thanks all. The mirrors do stick out- though I don't think as much when I'm on the bike. ;) It is a steel BCR tank and seat. It's based off the Armadillo tank. I am super happy with the way they came out- I really like the organic lines of Benjies designs- very sensual. :D

...err, "organic lines, sensual".....on a cafe bike?? I prefer growth hormones and raw aggressiveness for mine! ;D

Just kidding man. The bike looks really clean. Just another case that simple is sometimes better!

Yea, I think I'm going to stick with sensual... let's see, from Merriam-Websters:

...relating to or consisting in the gratification of the senses or the indulgence of appetite- check.
...devoted to or preoccupied with the senses or appetites- check.
...voluptuous- check!
...deficient in moral, spiritual, or intellectual interests : worldly; especially : irreligious- check! well maybe not irreligious- just not Christian. ;)

Thanks!
