So...I picked her up a month or so ago and I figured that I should start a build thread since there has been a little progress.
A little history. I picked it up fairly cheap because the p/o had torn it down and was moving out of state and didn't want to deal with it. The deal came with the torn down bike. Extra front end, tank, wheels, center jug and a few other bits.
The plans...I have ordered clip ons, grips and headlight brackets to get the bike cleaned up a bit. I am using the extra tank to build my seat. The motor is going to Bill Bune hopefully next week. ( I just happen to work down the street from his shop. Yay!) I have been talking with another DTT member about some rear sets wich hopefully I can get soon because I would really like to get started on the frame.
Well, I only have one horrible picture of it from before I took delivery. I will get some more shots this weekend.
Her name is Mona because it just reminded me of an older lady with a horrible smokers cough.
Thanks! I am a little overwhelmed being that I got it in pieces and I want the project to move quickly but I am sure I am going to have to take my time and assemble, disassemble and reassemble.
Re: 73 Suzuki GT380- "Mona" NEW PICS SOME PROGRESS 3/12/12
Well, it's been a while since I've posted on this build. This summer has been very busy for me so far but things are starting to settle down.
In the last few months I've torn the bike comletely down including two sets of wheels. Trying to get things ready for paint and powder coating.
I have been talking with a powder coater and an engine tuner. I am hoping to get this project together in the next few months but funds are tight.
I have attended a few bike shows in the last couple weeks and have gotten my motivation back. I will do my best to get some progress done and some pictures up on the board.
Re: 73 Suzuki GT380- "Mona" NEW PICS SOME PROGRESS 3/12/12
Thanks! I worked on the seat this past weekend and cleaned some tabs off of the frame between chasing the kids out of the garage.I did take some photos but haven't been able to get them uploaded.
Unfortunately, I think I am going to have to scrap the first go at it. I ended up not accounting for the bend in the sheet metal (against my better judgement) and the new pan fits a little too snug on the frame.
No worries though, I love woking with sheet metal and the first go brought up a couple more problems that I didn't account for so the next one I build should be perfect.
I will work on resizing the pics so I can get them posted up here tonight.
