73CL350 Electric Starter ... Doing nothing

Been Around the Block
Hi. I haven't dug a lot, but looking for guidance on where to start.

My electric start worked fine a month ago. No major changes other than I drained the battery and had to use the kick start to get it going. Ever since I've had to use the kick start. No turn over what so ever w/ the electric start. It dims the lights a little, but doesn't turn over the engine. No clicking either.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Brad

starter solenoid shot?

Yep.

No clicking means the starter solenoid isn't pulling in to supply power to the starter.
I'd look there first. That is assuming your bettery is fully charged.

Cheers.

I checked my battery and it was silly low, ~6V. I've been charging for a couple hrs and it's up to 11.3V. I'll keep charging to determine if healthy vs a bad battery. I'll check out the solenoid next.

Thanks, Brad

if you use the starter often, battery must be fully charged. trickle charge each night, or consider getting a new stator (theres a company that makes one... 220 bucks if im not mistaken... but a beautiful piece!) that charges better.

Thanks Guys. I charged up to 12.6V, but still nothing. I'm ok kicking, but out of get it right, i'm going to dig into the solonoid.
