73CL350 ... remove front shocks. rusty/stuck: wd40, tap, turn, pull, repeat

Keeping the silly questions coming:

I'm working on putting clip-ons on my 73 CL350. Scrambler handlebars are off, front wheel is off. Front shocks are pretty rusty under the "headlight ears". wd40'd up the front shocks. Still stuck pretty solid.

Any suggestions on breaking them free from the rusty bottom bridge?

My first thought is pound them out from atop. I plan on giving a try, but my daughter is napping above the garage, so I get a 90 minute break.

update:
got right side. more grime than rust. beginning to clean up nicely w/ only wd40.

update #2:
more wd40, but more importantly, tap out from top w/ pvc pipe. Right Fork is off:

Undo the headstem. Then you can take the fork and triple clamp to the workbench / vice and have an easier time with it.

Tap a flat bladed screwdriver into the pinch bolt cutaway to help lever the clamp open (not TOO much). This will help give you a bit more play.
