73CL350 ... Where to put the ignition

First, i need to say that moving to clipons from the orig scrambler handlebars is no small task. I'm still trying to figure out how the heck i'm going to get the wires for left/right controls out of the handlebars. i've read wd40 and pull, but it's daunting.

My real question for this topic: I plan to run neutral/turn indicator lights where the handlebar mounts were w/ orig handlebars. that means i'll need to relocate the ignition/key. I've seen the indicator lights done this way on a few builds, but where have you guys move the ignition to?

Thanks, Brad

Re: 73CL350 ... Where to put the ignitionx

Running wires through clip ons is pretty easy, I took a lot of pics in my build thread when I did it.

Are you using both bar riser mounts for your indicator lights? I put my ignition switch in my riser mount. You could go with the original area, right off the upper motor mounts. Or some people have notched out the front of the seat, right before the gas tank. It would put the ignition right at your crotch, but nobody would see it while you're riding.

Thanks Big R. I bought TTR clipons, which don't have the "inside" of the bar open, so I'll need to notch my controls. I like where you put the ignition switch, i'm going to have to check that out on my CL.

Solid bars for your clip ons? Hmmm. It is possible to drill them out a little bit but I don't think it would be worth the hassle.

There's actually a lot of places to put an ignition switch - headlight bucket, under the tank, under the seat, etc. In the riser mount actually took a good bit of work.....
