'74 CB 360 Cafe project, Atlanta, GA, USA

360 Cafe Guy

New Member
Hello all,
It is with great sadness (and great financial need!) that I offer up my 360 cafe project. I bought the bike back in '02, got it running, and rode it around for a little bit before deciding to turn it into a cafe racer. I sandblasted the frame, primed and painted with appliance epoxy, grinded and shaved all excess tabs, etc. I also had a shop in Statesboro (place of residence at the time) weld an assembly under the "tail" for the battery, etc. The bike is a bit of a basket case, as the parts of it are mostly in boxes at this time, but it is a solid project with a ton of potential. Just some of the things I can think of off the top of my head are:

Roc City cafe seat (small auto-body patch where gel coat came off...purchased 2nd hand that way...)
Tank and custom mount for CB 500 T tank...tank in need of paint, but incl. petcock and little/no rust inside
Roc City clip-ons
Starter block-off plug
Brand new rear shocks
New seals and fluid in front shocks...shocks themselves painted when frame was painted
Ported and Polished head
Brand new Mac 2-into-1 exhaust
All new stainless bolts (carbs, shock mounts, front shock tops, steering stem, almost everywhere you can think of!)
3 sets of carbs...1 was in running condition on the bike, the other 2 were purchased on Ebay as spares...I was gonna fix them up and try to make a few $$$ on them but never got around to it...1 of the spares has a good set of diaphrams, and the runners should be good as far as I know...
Aftermarket voltage regulator
2 sets of rims (originals w/ new tires, but some rust on spokes...) Used set I purchased is mounted on bike currently, and has NO RUST...EXCELLENT CONDITION!!!

There is more, but I can't think of it all at the moment...
As it sits, the bike is a rolling frame. The engine was running when removed, and has about 9200 miles on it. I split the cases, and foolishly over-torqued 1 of the case bolts, breaking it off...I have the replacement bolt, but never managed to remove the old one, so there she sits...a few of the engine covers, I had decided to paint w/ hi-temp black paint, but wasn't too crazy about the results. They are all included, but a few could potentially use replacement. All of the original equipment from the bike is included...rear fender, lights, gauges, signals, battery box, air boxes, seat w/ nearly new cover installed, 1 side panel (painted black but in good condition), original orange tank in fair condition, tool kit, etc.

This bike will take some work, but a lot of the hard stuff has been done, and a lot of $$$ has gone into it. It needs someone to give it the magician's touch. If I had to guess, I'd say that I have roughly$1500 into this bike just as she sits now...hard to believe! The bike is sold with a bill-of-sale only, as I never registered it in my name...I will include the bill of sale I received when I purchased the bike as well.

I'm asking $800 OBO for the project, and it is for local pickup only. Please ask any questions you may have. Thanks for looking

if i was near you id snatch that up in a heart beat. Good luck on the sale! sucks to see it needs to go

Dammit! And here I am in Rome GA wishing that I had the space and money for a project bike.

If you have not sold it yet, I highly recommend you parting it out. Not only will you help a LOT of us here on the site, I am sure you will bank more money as well. It is a lot more work, but worth it in the end.

...>and I am mostly saying this to avoid a trip from N Texas to Atlanta to buy the whole thing to start another project that I need like a hole in my head!!! :)

Ported and Polished head

what does that mean to you? Who did the work? do you have receipts? Anything else done to the heads? Are they assembled with valves and cams? How much for just that?

thanks
Eddie

Hello all,

Thanks for the responses. It does suck to see this bike go, but I've gotta do what I've gotta do! I will consider parting the bike out, but may keep some of the main components (engine, etc) in case I get a chance to give her another go here some day. If you need anything for a 360, stock, or aftermarket that you've seen, please let me know, and we can discuss prices, etc.

Matt

P.S. The "ported and polished" head was done by a custom motorcycle shop in Statesboro, GA. The guy did excellent work, removed, cleaned, and re-installed valves, etc. He then bead-blasted the entire assembly so that it looked brand new, as it was really grimy on the inside and out...I might just have to hold onto that bit though if I'm just gonna sell some of the bits off the project.
