'75 CB200T Repair Quote for Court

Hey guys/gals,

How's it going - this past July, I was jumped in Philadelphia & the punks kicked over my CB200T ('75) during the commotion. They didn't get anything from me (well... half of one of my teeth, but that's a different issue...) Well, just recently all of the court stuff has come to an end and I was involved as a victim of a violent crime in the case of Pennsylvania vs. This Scumbag (Verdict: The one guy out of five that was caught, was found guilty of felony robbery and some other misdemeanor B.S.). I have one more court date to return & provide documentation to some kind of "repair" costs for the bike, which is where this quote comes into play. Most of the damage only affected parts cosmetically, as it still runs just the way it did prior to the episode - it's what you'd expect for just getting dumped over.

I have all the damaged parts written down at home and the police took pictures of the bike (albeit at night with a crappy camera, so not sure what can be seen) so I'd be able to provide the info along if someone is able to provide a formal quote, so that it would all be reflected in the quote (Not sure how one would provide prices for obsolete parts, if the shop marks them up...etc. - as I'm sure a Honda dealer would... I'd love to bring it to a Honda dealer for a quote, HA!) The way I had initially done it was through BikeBandit, just to get some kinda idea, but knowing I wouldn't be able to get the parts there. Also, my district attorney said that what I did might not be accepted and that a formal quote is the way to go.

Besides the point, I didn't have a fair way to account for labor times to install said parts (I mean, let's be serious. I would like to know
what this guy will have to pay up for professional installation, know what I mean? He should be paying for that stuff, even if most of it is pretty mindless/simple to replace.)

Anyway - I'm sure you catch the drift. So yea, I'm basically looking for a shop that could provide a formal quote for whatever work would be required to "locate / purchase / install" the parts damaged. It's this kinda documentation they're looking for that will aid in negotiating for that money in restitution payments from the guy that was arrested and I will be able to dump it back into the bike on things that it REALLY needs.

If anyone has any questions, please let me know. I'm not trying to swindle the system, but looking for an honest quote. The reason I haven't been able to bring the bike anywhere is because I took it to my parents house in the Poconos for the winter (I live in Philadelphia) long before I had a glimmer of hope in having my DA win the court case (can't file for restitution without someone being found "guilty").

Thanks!

Scott

I know a guy in Michigan not too far from my house. They call him "The Honda Doctor"....... Hes a bit of a jerk but he could possible work a legit quote. I was in his shop once and omg i wanted to live there! the beautiful Honda's he had restored! If you want i can get you his info. im at school now.

The money isn't coming from "The System", it's the restitution the crook will pay back to you. Which means, no lump sums, :( Considering they already charged the guy with a felony, seek out the most expensive possible quote.

@MNBikerPup

I understand the money comes from the crook. I've tried to get in touch with a few local, small shops and the feeling I get is nobody wants to be involved because they think somehow it can/will come back to get them. But realistically, I guess what I meant was that I'm not trying to get an inflated quote because the way it was explained to me is that the quote only helps me initiate a starting price-point, where the defense lawyer will likely have something to say and get it bumped down some. Just trying to let the system do work for me - but I can't get a darn quote to bring with me! Haha

I know that feeling. That's why I say seek out the highest quote just in case it does get talked down and hopes that it won't drop below the minimum. Not sure why you are having issues with this. It's just like getting a quote for body work on your cage. Wish you luck brother.

the sucks this happened to you. One question though, supposing the court orders this guy to pay restitution, what do you think the odds are that you will actually see any of that restitution. Assuming he's as big a scumbag as you say, he probably isn't holding down a job to be able to pay you the money.

most states put restitution in w sentence,,if the guy dont pay he could be kept on paper till you are paid-or jailed for not meeting terms...a lil visit/ call to the da may help answer questions

Getting a quote from a guy in Michigan would be kind of odd, given that this all happened in Philadelphia and I'm living in Philadelphia, as well. Not sure why I'm having a hard time getting a quote. The repairs are kind of nonsensical (stuff I could do myself with little effort, so maybe the mentality is why would a shop want to even be bothered?). That's the kind of attitude I see a lot in the city (born and raised in the sticks!). I reached out to AlphaDog on the forums here and he was receptive and helpful thus far (and is reasonably local in the suburbs) - just waiting to hear back. Getting kinda nervous with the court date coming up fast!

whats the major damage on/value of the damage? maybe shops are turning away because of all the minor things.

Say tank was dented and scratched and you broke a signal off and wrecked your clutch lever or something, in this case since you'll spend more time fighting for the small shit your best off to just go get a quote on an overpriced NOS tank or something worth the value of the other broke items, and fix the little things yourself but just have the shop quote you on one or 2 large items that equate to the sum of all damages.

this is what I have done on cars before, seems to be easier and most shops will quote on larger things.
