75 CL360 1st build

I think I have a good (re)start of the seat pan. I used 1 1/2" angle steel and welded it to the flat portions where my ass will be. I'll figure out what I'm doing for the bum stop in a bit. I did a little bending and hammering at the front where the tank meets the seat. My welds are a bit sloppy, and I have lame excuses lined up ready: It was 10 degrees, with a hand-held welding mask, I rushed it, I didn't have breakfast, the sun was in my eyes, and there was a full-court press.. :p

Really, I just need more practice (read: more cafe projects).

**WARNING** welding galvanized steel can KILL you. If you choose to reproduce this technique, use untreated steel. I used galvanized steel at my own risk; I was outside and with constant forced positive air movement.

The stiffness is more than stock, however, the weight is too. I may have to drill some more holes for weight loss.

Still waiting on a backorder from DCC. I got a plan in my head for the back of the seat and mounting points for the fiberglass. I swear, I'm still working on it.... just not as active.

Take your time and make sure its what you really want the first time ,or you will be doing it again. PS life happens school, work, wife!! LOL

I will be watching this one closely. I pick up my 73cl350 next weekend. I cant wait! I will be ordering drag bars and 2 chrome bar end mirrors on Tuesday. On the wish list will be a cafe seat pan,4 new turnsignals, header wrap, a new brake light & a better fuel tank as this one is dented up pretty good.

I had that same tail light for my first attempt at a seat and it also turned out way to fat so I changed it up. good luck with your project

Anybody have a trick for putting the float valve seat back into the 360 carb? What a pain in the ass.

Well I beat the snot out of that valve seat as gently as I could. I got the carbs rebuilt, and here's a taste of the colors I'll be using:

The problem is that the stock seat pan has a "fat ass." I used the tank as a mold for the bum stop. When I pulled off and placed it on the seat pan, I realized that the seat pan needs a diet, and I need to split the bum stop down the middle and narrow it up. Looks like I will be huffing resin again soon. ;)
Nice. way to pay attention to detail u always want the bumm stop to match the tanks lines it makes the seat look tits

My intention today was to finish up the seat pan before work, but I have to de-tab the frame before I can finish fitting the pan sides. Today is the warmest day if the week with a high of 20* and the snow is thigh high... this wouldn't be an issue if I had a shop :'( poor me. Soooooo I got nothing done. Hope everyone else's day is better!

I put the carbs back on and fresh fuel lines. I gave it a quick charge and started her up. The right-hand cylinder is back firing and I suspect the carbs need proper synching, but progress was made!

Good luck with the build.
Really like the CL's.
Def on my dream bike build list, that list is a lot bigger then my bank balance. But I think that will always be the case.

Keen to watch the build for ideas and lessons learnt
